Hey everyone. My name is Chris Mason. I am a current PGY II, about to be PGY III, here at the University of Michigan. But a few reasons why I chose University of Michigan when I was ranking a couple of years ago: one, I always wanted to get out of state. I had always, you know, but something in life had always kept coming up and then residency came and I thought no better time than this to get out, explore the world a little bit more. Additionally, my mentor at my medical school was a former chief here. If University of Michigan can make a mentor, physician and such a great clinician educator such as she, I have to look in the University of Michigan, I have to see. Fortunately enough I was able to interview here and then interview day came, I was fortunate to be able to interview in person and it surpassed all my expectations. The culture was really down to earth, really helpful, and then I got to go explore Ann Arbor and I was just blown away by all like the hidden gems in the area, the scenery, especially on the north part of Ann Arbor with the Huron River, all the restaurants downtown and at the end of the day it was an easy call for me.
