It's Meghna again.In this video,I'm going to be talking aboutarguably one of the most important thingsabout a business school,our career center.Brandeis's career center is calledCareer Strategies and Engagement Center.There's two unique things10about how our career center works.11First, they pair you with12a career coach13for everyone.14My career coach's name is Marcia Katz15and she's in charge of all the people16who are getting master's17in International Economics and Finance.18She's really well-versed19in the different careers that people20who get a master's in econ21would want to go into.22Prior to the start of your program,23in the summer before,24they often ask you for your resume25and that way you'll get pre-approved,26you will get all set up27for those internships that have28perhaps an early recruitment cycle,29like the finance industry.30A second really cool part of our CSE31is that they're paired very closely32with your faculty advisor.33Oftentimes, your faculty advisor34knows what classes you're taking35and what you're signing up for,36but they don't know37what careers you want.38Your career advisor might know39what careers you're having40but not necessarily know41what classes you're taking.42They have a very close relationship43and that way your academic success44engenders career success.45That's one of the most important things about46what you want to get out of47in a business school.48Another cool thing about CSE49and your career coach, in my case,50Marcia Katz,51is that they're also going to be52your professor for a class that53Brandeis makes you take54your first semester,55Launching Your Global Career.56In this class,57your career coach58will tell you how to network,59how to do an elevator pitch,60how to email someone,61how to interact with recruiters.62These are really important soft skills63that you're not necessarily going to get64out of like a quantitative class65but are definitely very important things66to know.67Finally,68on top of our CSE69having one dedicated career coach70towards every program,71we also have another career coach.72Her name is Geri,73who's just in charge of helping you74do case interviews75which is really big for those76consulting industries77and all those industries that require you78to think on top of your feet.79I personally used her all the time80and she's fantastic.81To sum it all up,82I think that83the Career Strategies and Engagement Center84is one of the best aspects85and I can't wait for you86to get to know them.
