Factors for Choosing a College (And Why I Chose RIT)

Hey, guys, it's normal And back with another arty video for you today we're gonna be going over the most important factors when choosing a college nowadays and why I chose to college. Okay, so this video, we kind of broken down into four categories. That kind of stuck out at me is very good indicators of where I wanted to go. You really want that hands on experience, especially when you get to higher level stuff because you'll be doing your thesis and you can be like, Hey, Professor, I really need help on this. You know that Not only are you getting small classes, but they are all taught by your professors. You want to make sure that happens, because even though T s will try the best know what they're doing, I'm a teaching for a couple of classes. Even though we try to know what we're doing, we're not the expert level expertise that you will get out of your professors. Look at your course track before you enroll in that school. I can go online and as you see right now, you go online and they will say, you know, first year and then it will have, you know, production one. You want to know what you're going to be doing? What are you paying for for those four years and new with this? You can see exactly. Oh, you know what? I'm not gonna be getting a lot of crazy theory classes that don't really matter. I'm getting those hands on lab and workshop classes that really kind of hit to the heart of what I want to do with my life. Artie has everything laid out so extensively I can look up every elective I could possibly take. Of course, is they'll have to take our kind of want to take that are kind of fun ones. Are you going to be able to hang out with people on the weekends? Will you have fun? Will you make friends? A good indicator of this is kind of the most basic one. You all know what clubs and organizations are the clubs and organizations that you are interested in that you want to be a part of. If you go on and just scope out two or three clubs and be like, you know what? These are kind of instant made friend groups. You look them up and you know you know what? I'm interested in Derby. You can go and be like, You know what? I'm interested in that. Now I know that when I go there, I'll have at least like 2030 people who are interested as well. So by looking at these things before you come, you kind of be able to tell, you know what? I have a couple of people that I know that I will in some way bond with now. How many people stay on the weekends when asking this question? Where you're basically asking is, Are there people around where if I'm 16 hours away from where I come from and I'm bored on this Saturday, will there be people there that I can hang out with? I can get to know I will have fun with. That's really an indicator, and that's a great way to kind of actively go and find out what the school campus looks like, because if there are people there on weekends, the school probably running things there on weekends. Obviously, if you're accepted into it, you do want hockey, good for you to get. Do you want hockey? But let's say you want to do something more inter mural or kind of off to the side. You want to play club hockey club, softball, club baseball, something like that. That's a good thing to look into, because even if you're super invested and looking at sports in college, you never know who you're gonna meet. You never know who you're gonna make friends with, So if you're anyway interested in that, that's a great thing to look into, even if it's just as a side gig, whether you're in it for, like, you know I'm gonna win or if it's more of a you know, I want to shoot hoops some night and I want to kind of get a gang of people to shoot hoops with. If you go on there, you can find, you know, 95% overall, I can go more specific. I can even go look at Oh, look at I'm going into filmmaking. That's a crucial thing to do because you want to be able to know that when I graduate, will I be jobless and drowning in debt? No, I want to have, you know, the job that I really want to have it going to be doing. You wanna go straight into that and not be stuck in kind of a rough schools have those statistics online. RT is known for its fact that we send people straight from their major to their desired work position, So that's an important thing to looking for one. Will I be able to afford this college? Can my family pay for $70,000 a year bill on You know what kind of minimum salary? So it's very important to fill it all the necessary paperwork on time. You know, it's a minute to the financial aid office, but if you're dead set on going to college, talk to the financial aid while you're doing it. Be like, Hey, you know what? I'm applying this college or I just got my acceptance letter. I'm considering going here, but I just want to kind of go over what the financial aid package means or say, Oh, I'm so I don't want to go to our T. But I need a little bit of leeway. Can we kind of work something out? Their job is to help you. I found when I was applying to R. C, they gave me a great financial aid package, but just circumstances in my family, I was like, You know what? I need a little more. I just wanted to get into the part of why I chose I chose RT for a couple of reasons.
