Why I Chose the Shidler DLEMBA Program

I chose it for a few reasons. Probably first and foremost, a lot of my mentors who I respect and have taught me a lot have gone through UHʻs Shidler EMBA program and so obviously there was a lot of credibility that came with that and I knew that you know, if it was something that they felt was worth their significant investment in time and resources, um then it's certainly good enough for me. Another reason why I chose it was, you know, in getting back to that idea of really knowing and understanding the business ecosystem. I think as important as the content of the program is, I think it's really also important in building a network of folks in Hawaii who have a similar mindset and who have similar aspirations not only for themselves but their places and their organizations in Hawaii in general and I think Shidlerʻs program offers probably the best opportunity that I researched in helping me build that network of folks. It's been about 15 years since I've been in school, so really revisiting what it means to be a student and getting back into that mindset, thinking through kind of the best way you learn, and trying to brush up on that, you know, the content is probably was super new to me and you know, for folks who are considering this program, it's probably gonna be pretty new for them too. So it comes when it comes. Um so and you know, in the meantime, I think the best way to prepare for a program like this is just kind of getting back into that student mindset again and and reviewing, okay you know, what does it take for me to um, to really understand and digest things and well enough to apply them. For me, It's, you know, being exposing myself to something at least three or four times. So, you know, once in the textbook, once in the lecture, once in review kind of thing. So, um, really finding that all right, positioning yourself to be a student again, I think is probably the best advice I can give.
