My name is Michelle, and I was part of MHRM six. I graduated in 2013. Family work Life balance was very important to me. Which is one of the reasons why I chose the Shidler program. I really appreciated the class availability. It fit with my work schedule and accommodated with my family life. I also love the idea of being in a cohort with current and future HR professionals. I entered the program with very little HR experience. So Shidler's program really helped me pave the way of where I wanted to go in my HR career. It was such a great opportunity to learn more and grow. I got to meet new people, create new friendships. The things that they had us do in class was group activities, presentations, projects. These are things that helped me build my skills and made me feel more confident, confident as a writer, speaker and presenter. And these are things that you do every day at work. My words of wisdom from this experience is to just be yourself. But also open up. I don't know if that makes sense, but what I mean by that is, in the beginning, I was a bit shy. But then I later realized that everyone was just like me. We were all here starting a new chapter in our life. It just you may never know who you meet. When you look around, you'll see that people are in different points of their lives and careers. But they're here for a reason. And they're here for a purpose, just like you. So just keep moving forward. Don't be shy. You know, during the program, I opened up and got to make new friends, and I had the opportunity to get recruited and staffed from one of my classmates and that I am forever grateful because it was one of my first HR positions. And till this day, I'm still doing HR. So I'm thankful for this experience. I'm thankful to be part of this program.
