So when I graduated from law school in 2005 I started working at my current firm which specializes in the area of workers compensation defense. After a few years ago working in that area, I realized that there was something missing between the connection of why we were receiving claims that we were getting and what was going on at the workplace. So what I did was I decided to apply for the MHRM program at the Shidler College of Business and I remember thinking to myself, what am I going to do? I've never had any background in HR or in business and so I figured I would just go in with my eyes open and really taking the information that I could gain from the program. I remember our first class was with Professor David Bess. He taught us advanced organizational behavior and I remember during that class he started to teach us about the big picture view of organizations and the connection with its employees. Uh specifically we learned about how to work in teams, how in organizations mission vision and values are essential two finding those employees who fit and match with your organization and also how to motivate and retain those a players that you need to make sure that your organization is successful. And I remember during that class, I had the aha moment where I decided that that's the thing that was missing. I realized that there's a lot that goes into an organization and dealing with the relationships that organization has with their employees and why it matters to ensuring that your employees are taken care of and feel like they are part of a good organization. And so once that class was finished, I was so grateful for applying for the MHRM program and getting into the program as well. It has helped me throughout my, my years of practice. Since then, it's helped me see what else is going on besides just the individual claims that I was seeing at work
