The Writers Institute at Susquehanna with Jena

It's Jenna again and we are in the Writer's Institute. Um, so the writers Institute is the creative writing department on campus and this is the building where we kind of have classes. We also have classes in another building called Fisher, but a lot of classes can happen in the Writer's Institute basement. So I'm in a classroom right now and it does resemble more of a conference room than a classroom. The thing about creative writing workshops that we have is that they're not really like lecture based classes, it's more of a discussion. So by having this conference room, uh, we basically have a more um, discussion based class. It's very easy to see each other because we're in a circle. It's more of a community building device that I think really works, especially for workshops. In creative writing, we do a lot of work with each other and we kind of learn from what other people say because a lot of things are kind of up for interpretation sometimes and it's kind of what you take out of it. So I really love these classrooms because we have a lot of literary magazines and these literary magazines are actually student produced. We have so many on campus and I got the privilege of organizing this room recently. I see a lot of work, but like stem all the way from maybe like wait, like, you know, even before I was born, okay, it was actually really amazing just to see how much talented students come out of this department because you know, we have all this writing that documents everything.
