I'm a sophomore currently in my fall semester, I haven't declared yet but I am planning on double majoring in arts, studio arts and environmental science and policy. I want to major in these fields because I'm very passionate about climate change and art. Speaking of art, I am standing outside appeal U haul which is the art department so far in my art major, I've taken two foundational art courses. I've taken digital media and studio arts foundations. The three units we had where adobe Photoshop illustrator and design studio art courses are generally around three hours long. My studio foundations course, I had a variety of different assignments from two D. To three D. The work and assignment is going to be dependent on the professor and what they choose to have in their class. For my experience, the workload isn't too demanding as assignments are pretty spread out throughout the year after your foundation courses you take courses in the 203 100 levels. These classes include printmaking, painting one and two photography sculptures went into and I am currently taking sculpture one This fall semester. This week was the first time that I sculpted from a nude model. Also just recently did my portfolio review which is required for if you're declaring an art major essentially the faculty reviews your portfolio, ask you questions about your future what you're planning on doing. My plans were pretty tentative but they were okay with that and along with the studio art courses you have to take at least three art history courses. These have a fair share of writing and papers, but it is manageable. As for environmental science and policy, this major is very interdisciplinary, so you're going to be taking classes that aren't just about the environment, but the social sciences, even statistics, you're able to choose from a variety of different classes. This also has a lab component and this will be part of the requirements for environmental science and policy. There are many internships related to environmental science and policy that they offer here smith. I feel like recently I applied for and was offered an internship over the summer with the Center of Innovation and Technology for Development Center, which is located in Madrid Spain. This internship specifically is working on delivering on the EU's carbon neutrality goals and those are my majors.
