Meet Luke, a Communications Major at SRU
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hi, my name is luke brawler and this is my first campus real video. I'm a freshman student here at Slippery Rock University. I'm on campus right now as you can see behind me near the residence halls, which is where a lot of freshmen students live and I actually don't live there. I commute, uh, slippery rock from my house in Grove City, which is just 15 minutes away. That is part of the reason why I chose to enroll here. Also because my mom works here, so I get a tuition waiver, which is really lucky and that helps eliminate the cost of college, which as you know, it can be very expensive. I actually didn't attend school in Grove City either. I went to Lincoln Park Performing Arts charter school from grades eight through 12 and there I majored in musical theater for a few years from eighth through 11th grade and then I switched to media arts when I realized that my passion lied in other areas. Um, and that, that's when I started to learn about graphic design and film and television production, a little bit of marketing and stuff like that. So that experience led me to decide on majoring in communications here at slippery rock with a concentration and integrated marketing. I've had a couple of communications classes that I'm taking a semester, which I've really enjoyed. I enjoy the subject matter that I'm learning about. I find it to be interesting and engaging, which is all great. Another class that I'm taking for my rock studies is dance art and culture, which is dance appreciation course I dance for the majority of my life. Um, actually danced with a studio near my house and dance with them competitively for a few years as well. I'm really into top dancing and performing in musicals and plays. Um, so I'm hoping to do a little bit of that here at slippery rock. Also some other ways I'm getting involved on campus is I'm going to join a student organization. Haven't quite decided what I'm gonna do yet, but I know there's a lot of options. There's about 200 organizations from what I've heard. One other thing is I got an on campus job with Team Kayla, which is the social media marketing team. They run the twitter and instagram and all the social media pages of slippery rock university and they're responsible for that content. So that's what I'm making this video for actually. Um, but yeah, I don't know a ton about slippery rock yet. Um, but I will learn more over time, of course and as I learned more interesting things, things that I think are important for new students to know, or just any students to know.
