The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
My name is Hannah Slope, and welcome to campus reels. I am a junior here at Slippery Rock University, majoring in public relations and integrated marketing. Um, I'm from Somerset, Pennsylvania, which is just about two hours south of Slippery Rock, and I expect to graduate in May of 2022. I'm here today at my apartment here in Slippery Rock just to talk to you guys a little bit about Slippery Rock University, what the college has to offer and why I personally chose it to be my home for the next four years. So back when I was in your shoes as a junior or senior in high school, and I kind of knew what I wanted to go to college for, but I just didn't know where or what college even had to offer the suit, my needs and my interest. Um, I was looking for a college that felt like home, you know, it wasn't too big where I felt lost or didn't belong, but at the same time, it wasn't extremely small since I came from a really small hometown and I kind of wanted to expand and grow and learn in a bigger environment. So my mom actually had a best friend in high school who went into public relations, which is exactly what I wanted to dio, and she had an intern at the time. Whenever I was college searching, that was just excellent. She said that she got her schooling from Slippery Rock. My mom and I talked, and we ended up setting a college visit up for the fall of my senior year. There was so much life and activity going around on campus. Um, people were going in and out of all the dining halls and the student center. Uh, people were coming out of the Ark and Recreation Center and activities were going on outside and pop up tents and just in the quad, and everybody just seemed Thio have their place. If that makes sense, Slippery Rock actually offers over 150 on campus clubs and organizations for students to get involved in here. There really is something for everybody, which is exactly why I ended up choosing slippery rock to be my home for the next four years because when I arrived as a freshman, it was so easy to get to know people and to really find what interests me and what was available here in slippery Rock. Um, to start off, I waas a soccer player in high school. So here at Slippery Rock, there's inter mural clubs for athletics like any sport you can think of. Um and so I joined an intramural soccer team, and then I also joined the rocket, which is slippery rock universities, independent student run newspaper. So it really just allowed me Thio further my writing and also my photography skills that I picked up when I was in high school. The last one is number four, which is crew, and this is the Christian organization on campus, and there's just tons of opportunities here that you can get involved in aside from the extracurriculars, which are obviously very important. We, our students and our education comes first, so I just want to talk a little bit about the communication department and my personal experience there. So whenever I came to visit Slippery Rock in the fall, I set up a meeting with one of the calm professors, and I was kind of hesitant, like a little bit nervous and scared to be like on the big college campus and like meeting people. I walked into the building and the professors were greeting me. Students were smiling and waving a to the group that we brought in, and they were so friendly and outgoing. Whenever I met with my advisor and professor, she genuinely took interest in my education and my long term goals. You know, like if we were going to visit a bigger school like we weren't just another tally on the roster. If that makes sense, um, they helped me create a unique major that wasn't just a standard communication major, which I feel like a lot of bigger campuses. There's really no, like, straying off the path. I was able to create a major that was unique to my interest in my needs of what I wanted to look for in a career long term. So I was able to, uh, dual major in PR and marketing. I was able to pull classes from business management and finance. Um, E was able to pull graphic design and art classes and really just, like, create a unique major to myself, which was the ultimate deciding factor in why I chose Slippery Rock because they offer such flexibility. We're just amazing with tailoring to my personal needs. The university as a whole just felt like one big family to me. You know, the people were what I fell in love with, as well as the campus and all of the opportunities that they have here. I, I know that you would fall in love with it too. So I hope you found this information to be helpful and get to know me a little bit better. I hope Thio see you guys in the future videos and show you a little bit around campus and teach you all about slipper rock by.
