The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
My name is Hannah Slope, and I am back again today with another campus reels video. Today's video is going to be about the communication department here at Slippery Rock University and the organization called The Rocket, which I am a part of. I'm on my way to the office right now because it is print week for the Rocket. Um, and so we work two days out of the week nonstop to get print editions completed and up and ready for Friday to release two newsstands. Like I said, I'm on my way to the office right now, and I'm going to show you a little bit, um, around the building and then talk to you about the club itself. This is Eisenberg here, and I'll show you guys just a little bit around the quad and what the building looks like. Like I said before, this is Eisenberg, and this is what the front of the building looks like. In relation to the quad, there is the library there, and Vincent Science Center. Right over there is the physical therapy building, um, across the quad and there is the spots World Culture building. Um so it's located towards the bottom left of the quad. If you're coming from up there at the student center and the dorms and yeah, this is home to all of the communication department people. So this is just a little tour of the second floor of Eisenberg. Um, this is where all of the computer labs and some of the classrooms for the communication department are located. I actually had one of my ensure the digital design classes in here with Dr Artman. Here we have some of our rocket newsstands, the stairwell to the 3rd and 1st floor, and then the building is shaped like an L. So there are more classrooms down that way. So when you walk in, our office looks kind of just like any other computer lab, Um, we have all of the different Mac books set up for each individual section. Over here will be news section so they can get access to our white board with all of our ideas. Here are a couple of our other print editions that we had. We have the sports section over here facing campus life in the corner. We have our copy web section and we have two computers set up. Um then we just have some inspiration and made it kind of cozier in here. Then over here is where our editor in chief sits and runs all of our meetings and stuff like that. Lastly, we have our computer over here with copy web and, um adds so, yeah as you can see, I'm in the rocket office right now. Um, I got here a little bit earlier today because I have some graphics and photos that I need to work on. I just wanted to give a brief overview about what the rocket itself is and, um, just a little bit about what we do here and why I personally join back whenever campus was normal and people were able to walk around freely and pick up actual print editions. Um, we still print about every other week as of right now, but normally we would print a couple more than usual. Um, the reason I joined the Rocket was because I loved journalism in high school. Like I said before my previous videos, I was actually on track to go to Penn State for chemical engineering. After joining my journalism club in high school, I felt absolutely in love with it. So I knew that I wanted to join and on campus organization that had a journalism background in it. What better club to join them? The student run newspaper? Um, so I absolutely love it Here. Whenever I entered Slippery Rock as a freshman, I was originally the assistant photo editor underneath my advisor, Keegan, and he was just absolutely awesome. He made the whole experience enjoyable and taught me everything that I know now about photography. I get to practice my photography and editing skills. Um, I get to work with in design Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to make graphics for stories that maybe don't have photos, which is especially important right now because of covid and yeah, so I just really get to build my whole portfolio here and surround myself with people that I consider to be my family now, because we are a tight knit group of people that love working together and just bringing the students of slippery rock the hard hitting news that they deserve to hear. If you are a call major or if you're just a journalism lover and you are looking for a club to join, um, here at Slippery Rock, then I would definitely recommend the rocket. Um, we have so many different sections, like I pointed out earlier, and, um, to start off, we have news. Then we have other sections, like the one I'm in, which is photography and graphic making. We have, um, copy web editing, and we have an advertising team. Of course, we have our editor in chief position that oversees all of the positions and just make sure everything runs smoothly. So there really is something for everybody to join here at the rocket, whether you have an interest in covering campus events and the life like social life that goes on here. Um, whether you like being involved in the hard hitting news stories or if you like covering sports, which we have so many here it's a barrage to offer and cover.
