Hey, guys, I'm just And welcome to my video on my I chose RIT and how I picked to be a film major. I've known I've wanted to be a film major for quite some time. I definitely wanted to high school knowing that's what I wanted to leave high school and pursue in college. Um, my whole life, I've grown up loving to read and learning those stories and telling stories. So I think my love of movies and reading really helped me to discover my passion for filmmaking. I've always had an act for watching movies and wanting to know what was going on behind the scenes and how they made the film. My room is scattered with film posters. You might even see an old hunger games one from middle school. I really got into filmmaking in seventh grade when one of my middle school teacher said, Hey, we're going to make a movie. We had no idea what that entailed, except I had the best time of my life, and since then I've basically been hooked on it, and I've been making short videos and really practicing since I knew it was something I really wanted to pursue. So I wanted to do everything I could to make that happen, and I felt going to film school to be a great step towards success for me. I discovered our I t. Somewhat on accident. I've been playing field hockey since fourth grade and the spring of my sophomore year. I was going up in touring schools in New York that had film production and field hockey and our I. T s club field hockey. But they don't have a division team out of the five schools I visited on that trip, R I t is the only one without a division field hockey team, but the campus that I liked the best every school that I visited on that trip spring of 10th grade, I made a list of likes and dislikes, and our eighties likes column filled up a page and a half in Google docs, and my Dislike column only had one thing, I think, and it was. They don't have field hockey throughout the summer. After my sophomore year and really going into junior year, I realized that filmmaking will get me further in my career than field hockey and already has an awesome club team, which I'm a member of, So I love that. And alrighty just has such amazing facilities. So I realized it was something I should really look into. And I started working more of my portfolio to develop it further from I r i t application. I actually almost didn't even submit my r i t applications. So I said, why am I applying? Alrighty, I got into this art school. Well, look where I am now. And I said, you know what? I'm gonna do it. A few weeks later, I heard back that I got in and I really started looking more into our i t. I hadn't glanced at it too much since my sophomore year of high school, but I realized that I thought I was actually a good fit for the school and that the school was a good fit for me. Since it goes, both waves do the pandemic. I had college acceptances, but I couldn't even pour the campuses. So what really helped me decide on my college in the end, was these virtual online sessions that I attended through the university. In this session, I was able to tell that the professors and staff really wanted the students to succeed. And I loved the community feel and collaborative field of the school of film and animation at our I T. Magic Spell Studios is this amazing new facility that opened up in the fall of 2018. I remember them building it when I toward the campus, and I could only dream of what it is. And it's even better in person than I ever thought or another factor that helped me choose. Alrighty. In the end was the amount and variety of activities offered on campus, just so many different interests. I wouldn't be contained to just one thing. I like the variety of people and majors that I'd be around that would expose me to different experiences and people. Yeah, and I'm so happy with my decision.
