Information Technology (IT) Onboarding Checklist

Hi, everybody. It's Jess. We've covered a broad range of topics so far, but there's one thing we haven't talked about yet, and that is information technology. In this video, we're going to talk about our IT onboarding checklist. Alright, technology is a really important part of student learning. Some of the classes that you take maybe online or some of the classes that you take in person will also have an online component. We're going to make sure that you're completely in theknow when it comes to technology. But I might not cover everything. If you have any questions beyond this point, work with your enrollment counselor and they'll help you open up a help desk ticket for further assistance. First things first. You will walk through your personal IT onboarding checklist with your enrollment counselors to make sure that your set up in all the accounts that you need for your academic success. They'll make sure you can get into Blackboard, the student portal, the library and your email account. Your enrollment counselor is also going to make sure that you have adequate devices. They'll also make sure that you have adequate Internet connection in order to complete your course work or attend any virtual events that may happen. Even though your enrollment counselor is going to walk you through how to log into everything, keep an eye out for an email from North Country Community College. You'll want to look in your personal email, also known as the email that you applied to North Country with. In that email, you are going to be given all the login information. That information is provided to you from the IT department, which is a perfect time to bring up the IT help desk. We never know what's going to happen. Your computer may just freak out. There is an entire IT help desk there for you. These technicians are going to be there for you if you have any questions about Blackboard, getting access to Microsoft Office 365 or if you have any questions about your email. If you have any questions relating to any of your student online accounts, ask the Help Desk. Did you know North Country Community College has a laptop loaner program so the college can issue computers to you,the student, if you need? They asked me to share this helpful hint with you, so that way you're one step ahead of the game whenever you're accessing anything online. If you want it to work, use Google chrome.
