Jennifer Boone - McCombs Alumni Network
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I mentioned that a big part of my decision to attend McCombs hinged on becoming part of the Longhorn Network. From Day 1 the alums were super involved and graciously volunteered their time to be part of panels, um, and to lead workshops on different skills and interviewing best practices and even conduct mock interviews. Some also served as career mentors, which is a really neat program where alums could volunteer to mentor on certain topics. So each semester we'd get a list of alums and their backgrounds and the topics that they wanted to mentor on, which could be specific to their work but also could be sometimes sort of career adjacent. So like work life balance or being a woman in business or how to transition industries and things like that. Um, I spoke with two really successful graduates who helped me think about how to communicate my nonprofit experience to future employers as I was thinking about making the switch back into for-profit and then also one who helped me think about whether consulting really was the path that I wanted to pursue and if it was, how would I get there? UT alums and even more specifically, the Dallas MBA alums are enthusiastic and engaged and inclusive and thoughtful and just all around really delightful people and every single interaction that I had with an alum, whether it was a cold LinkedIn message or a mock interview or even just meeting somebody at an event made me really, really proud to be part of this group.
