Hello, everybody. My name is Sarah DiPietro, and I'm currently pursuing my masters of science in digital management at the Ivey School of Business. I was interested in the business field, mainly because I had no exposure to it Prior to coming into this program. I completed my undergrad at McMaster University and I received a bachelor of medical radiation sciences. During and throughout this program, I didn't really have the opportunity to take many elective courses, and I didn't have any insight into really what the business field had to offer. I actually completed several clinical placements, did a bit of research, and primarily my studies were focused on the study of radiation oncology. The reason I wanted to pursue my masters of science in management at the Ivey School of Business in particular is primarily because of their reputation. I mean, there's a lot of great business schools out there, especially in Canada. But just in my family alone, the Ivey school of business was very highly thought of. My sister, Actually, she's a big role model to me, and she also completed her undergrad in science that kind of moved toward business masters. And so when she was looking into what program she wanted to do. Her masters in Ivey School of Business was one that stood out to her, and initially when she was looking into the program, she was looking at the Business Analytics stream. After her kind of bringing this program to my attention, I did some further research, you know, into what they have to offer and doing this research. I came across the digital management stream, and this was something that I was heavily interested in, because I pursued my undergrad in sciences I was familiar with many different types of technology, and so the fact that there was a program where I could integrate my knowledge of technology and, you know, different industries coming to terms with the era of digitalization was something that was so intriguing to me and something that I learned to explore further. The second reason that I chose to apply to Ivey school of businesses was because I wanted to get that "away from home" experience. I wanted to get that university experience. I don't think I mentioned this, but I'm from Hamilton, Ontario, and McMaster university is also in Hamilton, Ontario, so I didn't get the opportunity to develop my independence and move away from home and meet new people and just have that well rounded university experience. I actually had been here several years prior because my sister attended Western University, and so I had been to campus. I had not gotten the campus tour. You know, I haven't really looked at the campus in depth or been in many of the buildings that are on campus, but I did get a look and a feel for what the campus would be like. And let me tell you, it is absolutely beautiful. Just the landscapes and the trees and the vegetation that are on campus makes you feel like you're not at school. Like every time you leave a building or a classroom, you feel like you're on a nature walk. So therefore, even though I didn't take a campus tour, I got to visit Before I came here, I had an idea of what the campus was like and how big it was. I would say primarily the network and connections that you build, the people that you meet, the friends that you make, not only with your classmates, also with professors. Ivey is very well known for this. Their professors are amazing. Regardless of the fact that I've been in a virtual classroom the past semester, I can still recognize the quality of the professors that Ivey has to offer. You feel like you really make a personal connection with them, and they're almost more your friend rather than your teacher. I mean, they are your teacher when need to be, and they always push you to be better and want the best for you. But that genuine connection that you share with them is like no other that I've had with any previous professor in my undergrad. It just feels more authentic in a sense, and you get to know them on a more personal level. I think the best advice I could give anybody that's considering Ivey as a potential option for a master's program or any other program is to just invest in yourself and determine if Ivey's brand and their image and what they will provide you the resources and the skills and the techniques to approaching business problems aligns with how you want to position yourself as a business leader. I think those are the key aspect to consider and with that being said, I hope you decide to come to Ivey to pursue the MSc program and I hope to see you there!
