[music]-You've been acceptedto Ivey's AMBA programCongratulations. Now your first question might be,what should I expectfrom this program? There are two major differencesbetween the Ivey AMBAand other MBA programs. The first one is about Ivey's method,10which is the case method.11The second12is the AMBA's hybridlearning platform,13which means some of the learningyou'll do will be online by yourself,14some of it will be onlinewith your classmates15and some of it will be done in-personlike your traditional MBA class.16Let's start with the case method.17The main advantageof the case method18is it leverages actualbusiness problems19rather than talkingabout theoretical scenarios.20Every class you takeat Ivey will be centered around one,21maybe two,22and hopefully not three23different cases24that draw in different business facts25and different business methodologies26that allow you to apply the knowledgethat you've learned27through readingand practice problems.28One of my favorite parts29about the case methodology30is that every class is differentand that's because31the students who comprise the class32bring their own subject matterexpertise to each case.33If you're doing a finance case,34you might have a bunchof CFAs or CPAs in the class35who can offertheir professional opinion.36If you're doing an operation's case,37you might have some lean, six Sigma black belts38or some PMPswho can offer their opinions.39If you're doing an HR case,40you might have some HR leaders41or people leaderswho can offer their own experiences42and have that coloradded to the case itself.43No matter what case you're doing,44it won't be taught the same wayand the same conclusions45won't be reached every time46because the group that you reviewthe case with will be different.47The second unique part48about the AMBA programis the learning model.49This is Ivey's first program50that has really incorporatedonline learning.51As someone in full-timewhile completing my AMBA,52I can tell youthat the online learning model53was essential to my successin the program.54What the online learning modelenabled me to do55was to fill in gaps in my schedulewhen it suited me.56As long as I completedall of the required readings57and assignments58before the next setof in-person classes,59I knew that I was on track.60There weren't dailyor weekly goals.61There were monthly goals62that allow you as an adult63to manage your schedule64to your own personal benefit.65Similarly,66there are some subjects67that took more timefor me than others.68It's up to you to determinewhich subjects69you feel most comfortable in70and determine how much time71you need to spendon each individual subject72to go into the nextround in-person classes73and case discussions.74We're not in high school anymore.75This is an AMBA76and each person should be ableto determine what they need to do77to be successful.78Ivey's AMBA framework79have case methodology80and hybrid learning model81really allowed me to do that82while working full-time83and taking classes84in downtown Toronto.
