Hey, guys, My name's Avery, and I'm a freshman here in Florida Southern College. Florida Southern is located in Lakeland, Florida, and is about 40 minutes outside of Orlando. Now I happen to be a legacy here in Florida Southern, because my grandpa, dad and aunt all came to Florida Southern when they were younger, even though I do have this advantage and I do know the school a little bit better. Because of that, I did still get the opportunity to toward the college this past fall on these tours, we were able to see all the different buildings on campus, see the beautiful architectures and also meet these students around campus and just see how welcoming and kind everyone is. I think the biggest factor that helped me decide to go to Florida Southern was actually that it's a private school now. This helps because it has smaller class sizes by having smaller class sizes there about 12 to 20 students in each class, at least from my own experience. They're about 2500 students on campus, so it makes it even more fun to recognize friends walking around just from going to class to class by also having smaller class size, it's easier to become friends with your professors. They become more of your mentor instead and maybe even your friend in the future. That will really help when you need recommendation letters for jobs or even just to apply for your master's degree. It's really easy to make new friends on campus, whether it be because you join an Instagram or Facebook group for your graduation class, or just by meeting new friends from your classes that you decided to take for your major. It's fun to hang out with these new friends on all of the different food places on campus, whether it be from getting a pulled pork sandwich from happy place or going over to Tutu's to get Starbucks in a bagel. I hope all the information I've given you today has helped you understand why I love going to Florida Southern so much.
