My name is Sierra Simmons and I currently teach 9th grade career and literacy along with 10th grade health. I became a teacher because of the teachers that I had. Right? So there were certain years that different teachers stood out to me and I just said to myself, I want to be that for a scholar. So for a student, I wanted to be that teacher that I showed that nurturing side show that they were caring even beyond the instruction. What do I love about my students? I love that they're charismatic, they're hard workers, they have so much charisma and spunk, I feel like all of them have their own personality, so that stands out to me and they love to build relationships. So there every year there's always one or two that you're going to get closer to and that's very similar to the reason that I became a teacher for those reporters and relationships with those students because of those that my teachers have been. So I'm gonna talk specifically about career and literacy, the course that I've been teaching here for five years now. So career and literacy is a very unique course unique to equality Charter school, to be specific quality charter high school at the moment, as they had life and literacy at the middle school, but I have so much liberty to teach the scholars, a range of things. So we start with the values and get them excited about high school that excites me and then as we go through the year, it just progresses, we talk about study skills, things from media literacy all the way to post secondary opportunities, though their night. Where did they enjoy it? And I enjoyed introducing them to ideas of that nature.
