FAQ 3: Advice for admissions

Unfortunately my second to last video with you guys of kind of bittersweet. Um, but I was asked advice about applying to colleges. Um, if you're coming out of college, even if your school says it's optional sig MIT, your S A T and schools because even if they're bad But they say you have good grades, they will probably still bet you unless it's like Harvard. Also take both e and S ape because some people do better on one than the other. I think it was on the S a t united on the just because of how my brain worked and some people are the other way around. It's an extra day of your life or an extra afternoon or an extra morning. It could be the difference of whether you get injured Green dream school or not. Um, if you are applying for anything in art and music, artists have to do a portfolio music. Let me say that I get prepped early a year in advance. You know why I don't like stress out with that planning, but the sooner you prep, the sooner you have audition material. Those two and you start working at least the types of things you're going to need to know for your audition on an audition prep in general. How the audition, just like techniques of how to audition or how to interview you. If you're doing a portfolio because you're going to have to present that to people, the better you will do. A lot of colleges, even if you aren't in one of those fields, do ask for an interview process or we'LL do it in formal interviews. When you come to visit their campus, dress for success, be yourself and practice interviewing, even if it's in front of your mirror or we saw Grandma. I'm sure she'd love to hear all about your life, too, and I'm sure she's been to like one or two interviews and probably knows a lot of the questions as to your parents. Um, I don't like have super scripted, scripted answers, but I know the general questions and know what you're going to say, like, Hey, what do you want to do after college? Even if the answer is you don't know me like my answer still is is I'm not entirely sure, but I'd like to do some level of music ministry. I would love to do life sound, and I was still really enjoy performing as well as teaching. I don't know what that's gonna look like in ten years, but that's kind of the direction I'm heading that lets them know that you haven't least thought it through, you know? So just have basic basic answer, you know, Don't memorize it. Don't stress yourself out doing that but like, you know, practice so that the questions don't catch you off guard in the moment on. The other thing is, is visit your school if you can't do a video tour like this one. You can even ones that you are totally not considering. Just you get ideas of how different colleges function. Um, just because otherwise you're never going to know. Go to that college table that you think you would never enjoy going there, that I found Roberts Wesleyan and my first two years there. That's where I went to school the first time were amazing. Um, and I think I will do one more video on audition advice just for music majors. So people have that from somebody who's gone through it firsthand at two different schools. On the first time when I auditioned to be a freshman, I auditioned at six different schools.
