FAQ 2: Advice for Incoming Students

Between now and the last video, I went to my open house to see my cool new apartment for next semester. I've had so many ankle injuries in my life that I knew what it was pretty much immediately, but not gonna go to the yard to get it checked out, because I am at least able to hobble around on. There's also the right size, like baked brownies in or big cake and like, you know, well, bye task and save space That way. Get the collapsible measuring cups things like that. Anything that's going to save space is going to help you under the bed. If you're not good at planning your space, ask your folks for help. Ask a friend who's really good at organizing for advice. If you're able and your folks aren't forever away, are you not another country? Um, leave your springs that summery clothes at home and bring them back after winter break except for one or two warmer outfits, and he goes under the bad after the first couple weeks for when you need them. The other thing I can say I highly recommend it, you know, explore things. Even if you come to college thinking you know exactly what you want to do. I went to school the first time thinking I was gonna be the world's best music teacher, and I ended up taking a gap year, changing majors and ending up even after changing majors, wanting to go into ministry. Like take time to figure out we're going and what you want to do. Don't let anybody tell you that once you figure it out, unless it's something that's literally conclude crazy, like you want to, like, fly without wings or and not on an airplane like and jump off buildings. You know that I'm especially if it's without a bungee cord and I'm going to be concerned for your safety. Don't let anybody tell you that what you're dreaming of. Is it possible just cause it has been done yet? If people like Einstein had done that way, wouldn't have what we have today new inventions and new technologies in the way of doing things on the Internet and video games and cell phones would not exist. So don't let anybody tell you that your dream is impossible. Um, I tell people all the time, You know, if you try and you don't succeed, fine. Um, that's just things I've learned from life. Um, is there anything else I want to say? Oh, if your school does not offer laundry, make sure you know where the nearest laundry mat is or have another way to do your laundry plan for it. Because laundromats often aren't the cheapest ones near colleges will tend to be less, um, but their not freight. If you bring less close plus laundry, you have two d.'Oh, um, also make sure your consistent with doing your laundry because here's something they don't tell you at your house because they probably either make you stay up to date on your own laundry or do it for you. If you leave already close to sit long enough, they will pick on like, permanent stink that you could only get out by Lake Washington once by themselves will live white vinegar. Not proud of it, but anyway, keep up to date on your laundry on. If you're going to do arty stuff at all, especially the music or video world, Max are still standard. You know, just don't, um, bring breakfast food and snacks so you don't have to buy from the vending machine and because often you will not make it to the bed, the dining hall in the morning, day at breakfast. Let's just be really don't plan for it like plan for Hey, I'm running out the door and I need something now. Don't ever plan to skip breakfast because that's just gonna set you up for not being able to concentrate during your day. If you need more time, if it takes you longer, if you're working really hard and getting a lot of classes but getting C's and C pluses like except for that, you know your major classes, where you might have to get a B here and there like some of minor like that, like or if you have to retake something once like yes, try to avoid those things, but weak. Employers for the most part of most careers, except for education and going to grad school are never going to ask you about your G p A. They are never goingto, you know, ask you for anything other than maybe a picture of your diploma, who you graduated. Are you creative? And can you be innovative? Then can you recite facts? Um, so if you're not perfect, don't stress over it, and you probably will at least her first semester get worse grades than you did in high school. College is harder news, flash, but please don't let it discourage you. Please don't let your grades b everything about your college career.
