Academic building 4: Massry Center for the Arts

I'm standing outside of Thie Mazzarri Center for the Arts, which is our music building on campus and host a couple of art classes, though most of those are done on a site off the main campus that there's a shuttle to and from every day and I'm going to show you guys the inside. There's big Senior show going on in there right now of all the projects of the graduating class this year, and now I'm going to show you guys the main lobby. They're setting up for a special tenth anniversary of the building celebration, but normally there's not as many tables. There are always these benches here, sometimes their students hanging out doing homework. Now we're going to take the elevator to the third floor. We're actually gonna go to the second floor first because I hit the wrong button on the elevator. There has a methods class going on right now looks like breath methods. Then over here on the second floor, we have our piano labs, and there might be somebody inside doing your class, so I have to be really quiet. I'LL see if I can show you guys through the window. So These are the rooms where you have, um, your keyboard harmony classes. You get a lot more time with the teacher and a lot more help from your other students in class meets, and you would if you were doing private lessons and all of the keys Aire waited Feels like a real keyboard. You can turn them out loud, too, but usually because there's so many students in class, we do play through the headphones, and now we're going to go check out the rest of the second floor, which there isn't much to see. A bathroom for both genders on every floor, which is very helpful again. Our professors often give concerts, so you'LL see posters around the building for other senior recitals or faculty concerts, and this is one of our music industry. Profess this is going to be doing a bass concert later this week, but I'm super excited to go to, and nobody's in there right now. If you ever have to meet with the faculty and the music faculty lounge, this would be it, and now we're actually going to go up to the third floor. So while we're waiting for the elevator, I'll tell you a little bit about what's up on the third floor. The third floor has two rooms, one meant for instrumentalists, one meant for coral ensembles that are almost exactly acoustically equipment to the Peacock Recital Hall, where we do all of our group ensemble performances. So your rehearsals and your rehearsals actually in the space really aren't that much different other than the height of the stage, which is nice there may or may not be a class in here right now, so I'm not going to show you guys this right now, but I will in a later video. That's where a lot my classes are and a lot of the coral ensembles, Um, and let's finish up, show you guys the rest of the third floor rehearsal room. They may or may not have a class in there as well, so I'm going to show you guys that right now, but it's pretty much the same as the coral one, except there's risers and instruments. There's the other elevator, another lounge and the ever important ever present vending machines that have Starbucks coffee in them. Hello, and there's even more lounge space on the third floor, which is the least. There's people listening to music, obviously one of those rooms doing a class or something. Then over here, this music office where Ugo, if you have any registration problems, many issues, I want to talk to the head of the department or our wonderful department secretary, who's not there right now, but very important place to Noah's, a music major. So now that we've done that, we're going to go downstairs to the basement and I will see you downstairs. I'll try to show you inside one of the practice rooms. A grand piano in here just got switched on the light. As you can see, there's a nice full size here in a grand piano, which is amazing. There's not enough bleed to really disturb you while you're practicing as if it wasn't soundproofed, which is. Here is your sheet music, even though students so love that back and forth to him from your dorm every time you have a lesson on becoming one of practice would be insane. So if you need to make copies of sheet music or anything like that, you can use that and there's just more breakfast rooms, lots and lots of practice rooms down here. Then we'LL see if there's a classic here, in which case it will be able to shave inside the classrooms. Yeah, there's a class right now, but that's one of our music classrooms right there. Good luck, and there is not a class in a one right now. The only thing that might change is often in the slightly wider rooms. There's almost always a piano and staff paper board where they can write examples or do dictation. Is a class and a teacher station in this room just smaller, typically classes that are like fifteen or so students. I had training in here last semester, so let's just go back to the lobby and we will wrap everything up. Okay, guys, so we're back right by where we started.
