The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
My name is Sadie, I'm a current student here at Washington University in ST louis or wash U. Um I'm a rising Junior, which means I just finished my sophomore year, so I'm officially halfway done, which is just wild to think about. Um I have a double major studying in the College of Arts and Scientists. My majors are in political science and educational studies in the future. I hope to work in college counseling um and increasing equity of students in the higher education landscape. There's tons of different ways to get involved with that here at WASH U. Um for example, I'm currently an intern with the office of undergraduate admissions that allows me to not only lead virtual tours and webinars for students that are interested in attending washoe possibly in the future, but I'm also able to guide students in their visit. Um well they are kind of looking around wash you and taking a self guided tour, which has been very rewarding this summer. Um so I'm from southern California san Diego to be exact. So moving to the midwest was kind of a big change for me. I had to buy my first winter coat, which was very exciting. Um I currently live off campus, but I spent the first two years of my undergraduate experience living in residential life housing My first year on the South 40, which is kind of the residential area for all of the first years and most of the sophomores Libya as well. Um During my sophomore year actually moved to the village, which is another residential area on the opposite side of campus where I lived in an apartment style housing, meaning that I had three roommates, we all had our own room and then we shared a living area and a kitchen um and two bathrooms, so that was kind of fun because it kind of eased me into off campus living, which is what I do now. Um, so going through the application process back two years ago now, I was looking at tons of different schools all over the country, all different kinds of characteristics meaning public schools, private schools, large schools, small schools, but I did know that I wanted to leave California and experience something new. I lived there my entire life and was ready for kind of a change and figure that college was the perfect time to do that. So I started looking primarily at schools in the Midwest and the east coast. The Midwest felt much more comfortable though because my mom grew up in Indiana. So I kind of was familiar with the area and had some family close if I, if I ever needed them. So watch you kind of came up on my radar and I toured during my junior year in 2018. Um, and just absolutely fell in love with the campus. Um, not only was it the most beautiful place I have ever been. Um, and that stands true today, but also every single person I met was just so welcoming. Um, not only as a student, but as a member of the community, both on campus and in the city of ST louis. So that was really rewarding because I felt like a true member of the watching community before I was even accepted. Um, in terms of students that I interact with mostly on campus, I would say most watched you students are incredibly open minded. Um, I think that you'll really thrive here if you have a passion for learning and education, even if you don't know what the subject you're interested in is yet a lot of students that watch you come in undecided um and you actually have until the end of your sophomore year to make a decision on what you're interested in studying. So there's plenty of time for academic exploration which most students take full advantage of. So I think coming in open minded is really important to a school like wash you um as well as just being open to new experiences, you're going to meet a lot of different people at wash u, especially that could be different from where you grew up. So I think just being opening and welcome to all the people that you meet um and being excited for the next couple of years of living on your own and exploring your passions, all getting a degree of an amazing institution. So I'm excited to talk more about watch You look out for more videos for me, talking about my school and why I love it, but I'm really excited that you're considering wash you.
