Hey, guys, today I'm gonna be talking a little bit about remote learning at W s, u M and how my experience has been. I have been in online classes since March, ever since Cove it hit WC. You took us out of school, off campus and on to zoom class. It kind of feels like it happened yesterday, but also it kind of feels like a million years ago at first, when we transferred to remote learning. It was very difficult for me and I felt frustrated, and I also didn't feel motivated. I would do school a lot of times literally from my bed or my couch in my pajamas, and it was hard for me. Thio kind of create that same experience in that working environment that we have in person. Now it's almost a year later and we're still in remote learning, and I have learned so much along the way. So maney tips and tricks that I want to share with you guys. I feel like I've created a really good system for myself and I've come toe love, online learning and online school. So I will go into a little bit about how I make my online remote learning environment the best for me and the environment that I create that helps me focus the best. Every morning when I wake up, I get ready like I usually would if I was going into in person class. So I put in an outfit and I do my hair in my makeup and even put on shoes. Now, this is a tip that my roommate actually told me that if you put on shoes, it kind of tricks your brain a little bit to make it think like you're going outside and you're going somewhere. You're staying inside, and it makes it feel like you can't relax is much or just like, taken out because you're wearing shoes. Now, I am not dedicated enough to wear riel shoes around the house all day, so I usually when my slippers, but even the slippers help me to feel like I'm going somewhere kind of. Then my biggest advice is to do your school work from a different room if you can. I know a lot of people do schoolwork from their bedroom because their desk is there, which is great, but I found that it's much harder for me to focus in the same space that I sleep and relaxing. So I always do school downstairs in my apartment, Um, either at the kitchen table or at the coffee table in my living room. I feel like I'm not in my own little environment with all buying distractions in my bed, so I can't just go back to sleep. So doing school in a different room than my bedroom has really, really, really helped me focus and stay motivated. So between waking up and getting ready like I usually would, and going into a physical, different room to do my schoolwork, I treated like I'm actually going into school and going into class, and it has helped so much. Also something that has helped me a lot is that all of my professors here at W. S. U deliver live lectures where attendance is taken, so we're literally required to be there or we get points taken off, much like in, you know, in person class. So even though it's online, it's still like I have to be there. So that has helped a lot to keep me accountable for going to class and showing up and kind of absorbing the material. So that helps keep me, you know, accountable for paying attention. I know a lot of times it's hard to have your camera on, but even if your professor doesn't require it, I highly recommend having your camera on just because it really helps to save focused during the lecture, I've also felt that an upside of remote learning is that professors are much more reachable over email because they're on their computers. I found that if I send a professor an email asking a question, they respond much quicker than when we were in person, which has, you know, it has become very helpful. Another upside of remote learning is that I get to be with my dog and my roommates all day who usually I wouldn't get to see nearly as much as I do. So it's been really fun, and I just gonna hang out with them and do class and yeah, I have grown to love it so much. I have four tips for you guys for online learning, and I'll start with number one is get yourself a pair of blue light glasses. Now, these were really popular right now, so you probably already have yourself a pair. I throw these on when I'm doing any school work, any work on the computer, and it helps my eye strain so much in my eyes. Get way less tired, and I find that I can focus way longer, so get yourself some of these. My second tip is in between your classes, even if you only have five minutes just to leave your computer and step outside if you can, and just take a deep breath in the fresh air. I found that that helps me so much to kind of just refocus for the next class, and it almost like, simulates the process of walking to class because you go outside. The third tip is probably also obvious, but I thought I'd say anyways, because it's my lifeline, make sure toe have your caffeine nearby as well as a snack. This helps me stay so much more focused during class. Then my fourth and final tip for you guys is just to be nice to yourself. I know it feels like with remote learning that you know you're not actually going anywhere, so it doesn't feel like it's as much work, but it is still exhausting and mentally straining. Don't push yourself too hard because you feel like you have Thio.
