The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
My name is Shannon and I am a junior at Washington State University, studying elementary education with an endorsement and middle level science. As a student here, I'm involved in a few different things on campus. I worked as a cougar connectors of giving tours of the university, helping out large visitation events, all those good things. I also work in health promotion at Kroger Health Services with the Bureau of Education program. I am a pair lead for one of the committees, and I also co around the program with some other students. I had such a great time getting to know people and advocating for public health. Another thing that I did was I studied abroad, which is some fun. I got to go over 12 weeks to Italy and work with an organization called Camp Adventure and got Thio, hang out with military kids and kind of provide a summer camp for them. So for all of you thinking about studying abroad, definitely stay tuned for some more videos about my experiences. I am from Bonnie, like Washington, which is exactly 300 miles away from Pullman on the west side of Washington, and it is the perfect distance away from BS You where I could still go home on the weekends if I really wanted Thio. My parents can come visit, but it's far enough away. I feel like I have a lot of independence and can kind of do my own thing over here. So for all of you who are in staters that are thinking about coming to Washington State University, I feel like I could give you a really good perspective of what it's like moving across this day. I know from being on the West Side that it is so different than it is over here on the East Side. Giving me that perspective, how you can make the transition and how you can kind of start your life over here in eastern Washington. I am so excited that you guys found this video because that means that you're thinking about coming to Washington State University and thinking about being a future coup, which is so exciting because that means that you're going to join this big, your family. Koop's once a kook, always a coupe, and I think that really speaks to the climate and the environment that we have created here at Washington State University, W. S. U is located in Pullman, Washington, which is in eastern Washington, about seven minutes away from the Idaho border. It's about an hour and a half drive from Spokane, which is the next biggest town since W. S. U is so close to Spokane is really fun to take a weekend trip up there to go get some good food, go to the mall, go shopping, get out of Pullman for a little bit. Your friends take a drive, which is really, really nice. Home in itself is so small you could drive around in a matter of minutes, you literally doing circle around the town. It really gives you that small college town field. It's really just like this big college town vibe, and I think that was really, really cool to me when I first toward ws you. One thing that I was really nervous for coming to Pullman since it is in the middle of the field was that there was going to meet nothing to dio. I know coming from Western Washington, there's so much to do everywhere you can find something to Dio you could go shopping or go hiking or go play in the lake. So I was really nervous coming to Pullman that it wasn't gonna be the same year. Now that I'm here and I'm a junior, I definitely I found that some cool things around the area to Dio. So on the weekends or even weeknights, we go bowling on Ceppos, which is so fun, I have definitely improved my bowling game, beating a student here. I'll put a picture right here, and that is only about 20 minutes away from Poland, and it's gorgeous. You look over the head of pollution this summer, you can see the yellow fields and the greenery, and all the week it's the most beautiful view if you end up in Pullman when it's still hot out, like in August, when school first starts. Ah, lot of people also go to the Snake River and go swimming, play on the dunes and cliff jump and just have a really great time with all of their friends, please. You as a whole load has about 21,000 students, which sounds like a lab, but I think it's a perfect number for me. I definitely didn't want to go to a small school. Also didn't want to go to school 500,000 students. This small town feel makes everything just being so connected and personal was also really nervous coming here that class size is going to be huge, and I was not gonna be able to build relationships with my professor My T. A. My tears in my closet. So you see, you really strives to make sure that our class sizes states small. About 80% of our classes have 50 students or less that you really can build those genuine connections with Professor is your th your other students and ask those questions that you're still unsure about. So I knew that I was going to not succeed as well in large lecture classes. That was super important to me when I was inside on the university. So now that I've been here for 2.5 years, I love my decision that I needed to come to Washington State University, and I am so excited to share all of that with you all throughout the series of these videos. So I hope that you're excited to learn more about being a student at W S. U. I know I'm excited to tell you about it.
