Hey there, my name is Alison and I'm a rising sophomore here at USC Dornsife. I'm gonna talk to you a bit about why USC Dornsife Liberal arts curriculum is so cool, so to say the least liberal arts is a curriculum that builds a student from the ground up. It asks you to be an active participant in your own academic experience, to be curious to try new things to step outside of that comfort zone. How that translates to USC Dornsife is the general education requirements, students are expected to take, offer a wide array of different academic fields, different views, lenses to interact with. For me as someone who thoroughly enjoys a variety of subjects with a strong ambition to try new things in college, this curriculum has truly been life changing. I see myself growing as a critical thinker, as an academic risk taker and as a better global citizen because I'm interacting with so many different academic and social perspectives, so if you're looking for a curriculum that will challenge you that will push you to the boundaries of your comfort zone and ask you to look for insightful connections between seemingly disparate subjects, USC dorm size liberal arts curriculum is certainly for you and what I say to people who are a little bit apprehensive about it, why not why not try something new? You may find something that you are so passionate about, but you may have never experienced in your previous academic experience. I know for me I took a class about occupational science, I had never heard about occupational signs in my entire life and now it's my minor and there's so many stories like that at USC where you take that one general education class about the subject you had never heard of or ever encountered before and all of a sudden it's your major and I think that is really just think to USC and that encouragement, that welcoming feeling of being supported as you navigate a fast terrain of curriculum and academic fields is something I am very grateful for.
