My name is Sarah Williams and I am a third year double major in business management and theater arts. Today I'm going to be doing a this or that both for college in general and also specifically to S. C. S. U. So let's get started number one for college in general writing or typing notes. So my note taking style has definitely changed over my three years here at SPS you when I was a freshman, I definitely really only broke my notes and I think this is really common amongst freshman in college because coming from high school we generally only hand roll our notes because it's not as common to have a personal laptop with you in class. Like it is in college now I really love taking notes on my computer. I tend to use the program like google docs or Microsoft one note. Typing your notes can be really helpful in classes that have a lot of papers or essays are really just homework assignments in general because you can control us in your notes and search for keywords or sections of your notes without having to read through them to find what you want to include in your paper or essay or even just to study. So if you're not familiar with control f essentially you just press and hold the control key and then press the S key and we'll open a little search bar and allow you to search within whatever document you have open. Like I said this can be super helpful in everything. Now the main reason I love typing my notes number two for college in general morning or night classes, I would probably go with morning and or early afternoon classes just because it's really nice to be done with your day around say noon or between one and two p.m. Because it pretty much gives you the rest of the day to do whatever you want like explore campus, which is super important your first year. Something that I personally noticed my first year is that everything happens at night in high school. You know everyone pretty much studied at night because we would all have our extracurriculars or sports right after school and then we would be up late studying and yes people obviously do stay up late and study in college. For the most part I noticed that all everyone ever wanted to do was hang out and have movie nights or got to dinner. So I would try and make my schedule or at least I had a schedule that made it. So I was done with classes around two and then I would go to the library or go wherever into my homework and study until around dinnertime. Basically yeah having earlier classes just gives you that time to study and finish all your work. Get everything done before you essentially just want to go out with friends and hang out for the rest of the night. Lastly number three for college in general study alone or studying groups. I personally prefer studying alone because I am very easily distracted. Studying and groups can definitely be beneficial when you don't understand something because you get that kind of discussion based studying where you can talk things through and try and understand things that you don't understand and figure it all out together. Now on to the S. C. S. U. This or that questions set in the middle of library or in the student union. I personally always went to the library to study like I just mentioned I prefer to study alone but I also pretty much needed to be completely silent. So my favorite place in the library was this quiet study area. It was a pretty big room with a lot of tables and other students who were studying. It was specifically a quiet area and that was really nice because I didn't necessarily feel alone in my studying because there were other students there, but it's also still able to focus because it was a specifically quiet zone. The student union though is a beautiful and really nice place to study and you can still find quiet places there to study as well as just around campus. In general, number two calico's Credit Union Open air theater or via ha serena. So here S. C. S. U. We have two amazing concert venues right on our campus. Day House arena is where our division one basketball team plays, but it does double as a concert venue. Then the calculus credit union open air theater is specifically for entertainment. I have been a concert at both venues and I personally liked the calculus credit even open air theater a little bit more Because it's just a much more intimate venue and it's outdoors and it's just a really cool environment. Diaz is an arena so it's definitely much bigger but still a really cool venue and both are not even 10 minutes from any of the residents halls on campus. Can I tell you how nice it is to be able to just walk to a concert. I was so blown away by this my freshman year with all the concerts that I was able to attend on campus and lastly the storm whole patio or the art building look out. So these are definitely more hidden gems that S. C. S. U. But are both really cool places. I personally love the Storm Hall patio to study to eat or to just really take a moment to pause. It is breathtaking at sunset, but our building is also really pretty at night because it looks out on the freeway and you can see all the lights of the city and it's beautiful. I hope you enjoy this video and I'll see you in the next one.
