The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
My name is Sarah and I'm a third year double major in business management and theater arts here at SAn Diego State University in san Diego California. In this video, I'm going to do a short review of academics here at S. C. S. U. I'll talk about my specific major in its workload, the biggest differences between college and high school academics and really just overall advice. So I am a double major here at S. C. S. U. And I didn't know that I wanted to double major coming into college here at S. C. S. U. You can't double major upon admittance into S. C. S. U. So I came in as a general business major and then followed my freshman year. Just this year I did change my emphasis and business from general to management just because I do want to work in the entertainment street in some sort of management capacity. So I thought that this emphasis was much more fitting. I chose these two majors because one I knew that a foundation and business would take me really far sensitivity, entertainment business and to theater was the obvious choice wanting to go into entertainment. This is also something I really love about SCS, you that there's a lot of crossing over and mixing between different disciplines and that this is really encouraged and I would definitely advise other students to double major or minor into different but complementary subjects. It really just opens up your education to include multiple disciplines and that's really cool and it makes you a really well rounded student in general. I'm definitely one of the students that's trying to squeeze a lot into my college experience. I have two majors a minor, I want to study abroad for a full academic year, so with all of that in mind, my personal workload is very heavy but I love what I'm doing, what I'm trying to do and it's definitely something that I have accepted and also something that's possible in general though as a single major or even having a minor it's all very manageable. Obviously some majors are more demanding than others but hopefully this is something you know if you were choosing of demanding major and you will know what to expect because it's either something you've been interested in for a while or something you have researched and you know what is required for the field you're hoping to go into. I always like to think that you will work hard for what you truly want and what you truly want to do. I think that's why it's really important that S. C. S. U. Does allow students to switch majors fairly easily. What you think you want to do right now may not be what you actually want to do once you get into it and that's okay. So I really just say don't be afraid to say that you don't like something, you're going to suffer much more in a major, that it doesn't fit you then you will if you say, hey I want to try something else and switch your major 12 or even three times or more. I personally did not feel much of a shock transitioning from high school academics to college academics. There are some teachers that are going to run their classes much differently than anything you've experienced in high school, but you will also find that the majority are somewhat similar to what you know, my biggest piece of advice is just to keep yourself to a schedule. The thing about college is that you make all of the decisions you decide when you wake up, if you go to class, if you do your homework, all of it. Yes, this freedom is quite literally the best part of college. I'm not saying you have to wake up every day at eight AM and go, go, go, but Sleep until nine, maybe 10. Make sure you go to class, make time for your work, but also leave time for fun and as long as you can maintain, even just a sliver of discipline, you will have no issue transitioning to college academics. Thanks for watching and I'll see you in the next one.
