Elena - About Me & Parker University's Health Information Management Program
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hello, everyone. My name is Elena. I am from Russia and I have been living in Dallas, Texas, for the last six years. I completed my first bachelor's degree in linguistics over there in Russia, and that's how I learned English and a couple of other languages. When I moved here, I decided to try myself in healthcare field. I enrolled in Health Information Management Program here at Parker in 2018, and I am supposed to graduate by the end of this year. One of the reasons I decided to enroll in the program is because I also work at Parker University. I do medical billing and coding for the chiropractic clinic. I really love my job. We have a great team and I enjoy helping chiropractic students meet their goals. I thought by enrolling in the program will help me advance in my future career at Parker University. Before I enrolled, I had a meeting with my work supervisor and with our program director, and both of them were really supportive of my decision. Since I had my bachelor's degree and high school diploma in Russian language, I had to get them transferred here, and it was really easy to do. Parker University gave me a contact of a person who would help me with both translation and credit transfer, and the whole process took about two weeks. The Health Information Management Program takes about 3.5 years, and it's 100% online. I think it's very convenient for busy people or people who travel a lot because you can take classes from anywhere you are, as long as you have Internet access. Some of my favorite classes that I enjoy taking are health information systems and data management because I enjoy seeing how technology can really help doctors concentrate on treating their patients instead of spending most of their time on paperwork. I also learned a lot about privacy, confidentiality, and safety of health care information. And I think it is something that needs to be taken seriously, whether you are doctor or nurse or you work in the hospital administration support stuff. All in all, I am really excited to see what I'm going to do after graduate, and I hope you find this information helpful. Thank you so much for watching and have a great day.
