Making Work and Life Balance
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
About what? Like how I found the work life balance here in Northeastern at least as a first year in engineering. You have to know when to pull back from certain things. Like, last semester, I was pretty crazy and that I was wearing tech. Wendell, um, was actively part of, I want to say at least three clubs, like social clubs. Um, and I did try to go out to other events, even if I wasn't part of those clubs. Um, and that was okay for me, mostly because my classes didn't have that much work outside, like homework and stuff. Um, I was in, like, the very, very basic level of Chinese because I I could not speak at all, and I still kind of can feel like it's getting better. Um, I think that class was definitely my most difficult class last semester, mostly because I have a really hard time with coding, but I think that kind of made it difficult for me to transition of it this semester because all of a sudden my class were a lot harder. Um, and something that I ended up having to dio um, so in the beginning of the semester, I made the decision to stop going to take window and said, Try dancing and I really enjoyed it. I just didn't have time to keep that up because it was several hours a week, so I just ended up like trickling down and then just not going at all. I still tried to make time for, like, the clubs that I really, really enjoyed the most. Like, pretty active and about two clubs. I just tried to make sure that I'm also taking care of my work first, and I'm not slacking off. Um, sometimes you need Teo like, not go to clubs and go to tutoring or something. If you feel like you don't know what you're doing because sometimes I feel like I don't know what I'm doing in physics, So we goto tutoring and I tryto get that figured out. Um, overall, though as long as you learn how to budget your time correctly, you should be fine. So I have a planner as well as a calendar which I keep up to date. So he both of them up to date Because otherwise I'll definitely forget and, like, overbook myself. Um, and if you have, like, a lot of work to do, you can always make a checklist. Actually, for these videos, I made, like, a whole checklist of, like, which videos I need to make. Um And if I've made them or not, as well as just, like work I have to do for this weekend. Like, I have a lot before too, right? I have Chinese homework, engineering, homework, physics, homework, calculus and this. So for that all the checklist And I was like, Okay, I'll check out like what I'm done with, and then I'll be set. So that's just how I managed the work life balance. Um, I think a lot of people to pretty much the same things. They really try to get involved, but they dio they do end up prioritizing academics over like social life to an extent on ly to, like a healthy extent, because I feel like a lot of people here sometimes struggle with thie balance between, like doing like, well, academically and giving yourself like a mental break. Um, and I'm certainly trying to hit that sweet spot as well, and it's always going to be different person, Lester and for situation. So the best thing you could do is just try toe like, constantly reevaluate how you're doing.
