During my time at McCombs, I was a member of the Graduate Business Council, or GBC, Graduate Women in Business or GWiB and the Consulting Club. As a GBC member, I was a liaison between the students and the administration. GBC is an elected group of roughly five students that self organize and manage things like events and networking opportunities and relay any sort of issues or complaints to the appropriate parties and work on developing solutions. Really, the point of GBC is to make each class better. Each year better. My leadership skills grew leaps and bounds from being involved in GBC. and I really see my time as a GBC member as one of the most defining experiences of my time at McCombs. GWiB is a really awesome group that aims to lift women up and to further initiatives that promote women in business. I believe that my class was about 30% women, so it was really cool to just get together and lean on each other and talk about things that would further advance women in the workplace. Lastly, the Consulting Club was a group that met to practice case interviews and just learn more about the process of pivoting into a consulting role. This group shared resources such as case books, conducted interviews and panels with alums that were in consulting and just generally supported those that wanted to make the jump into consulting. Um But I think the coolest part about this group is that you didn't have to be actively pursuing consulting to be in this club or to benefit from this club because so many industries and functions utilize the case interview. Um I personally had a case interview in a tech interview and I also had a case interview in a retail interview as well as obviously in consulting interviews. So um this club had a lot of people that were interviewing for a lot of different functions that just wanted to practice case interviewing, which is a fairly tough skill.
