Mary - Why I Chose MGH
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hi everyone, my name is mary, I'm a second year at MGH. I just wanted to talk a little bit about why I chose MGH, so I I went to medical school in new york. Um and when I was looking for a residence residency programs, I really wanted to be a part of a program that I felt had a really strong community and I think MGH has completely exceeded my expectations in that respect. I think being a resident at MGH, it's not just going to work, coming home, going to work coming home, it's truly, you're a part of something, you're a part of the family of a community. Um It's truly a special experience being a resident here. There's just an effort among a lot of leadership at MGH to really make sure that residents, I don't feel like this is just a job, but I feel like we're a part of something bigger part of a bigger family and we're working together to, you know, take care of each other and take care of patients. Um The second thing that was important to me was autonomy because I felt in medical school that the best way that I learned is to just have somebody forced me to just kind of take ownership over decisions over my own work. Um and as the second year we have basically resident lead rounds. So over the past month I had to general medicine rotations where I was really leading rounds with interns and I think it just really pushed me um to really hone in on my leadership skills and also on my clinical reasoning skills. Um, and of course we always have the support there if we need it, so I always feel supported. At the same time I've just been really, really excited to see how much the program has pushed me to really develop my skills as a clinician.
