My name is F E M. A third year med peace president. I wanted to talk to you today about community health centers. First of all, there are a number of primary care practices that internal medicine and made peace presidents can work at. There are only a few community health centers that you could be at to begin with. What makes a Community Health Center Community Health Center? Well, historically, these air places that try to reduce barriers for entry of care for particularly vulnerable or special communities the ones that MGH are affiliated with our Charlestown, Chelsea Revere and for med piece residents. So each one of these health care centers takes care of a particular community, and each one has a little bit of different vibe. I'm going to talk about most revered health care center because that's where my primary care clinic is that if you want to just hear about Revere, you can go ahead and just jump to this time Here. Chelsea Health Care Center serves a very diverse population. They also have a pretty large Spanish speaking population, their unique, and that they have this extremely busy, urgent care center. They also have a number of specialty services and ancillary services. Every is a bit small in the other health care centers, but it does have a very special population that it takes care of, including a number of non English speaking communities as well as a large, low income population. The Charlestown Health Care Center takes care of a historically working costs, low income community. Identity is also in a beautiful part of Boston by the Charlestown Navy Yard. Finally, let's talk about Revere Health Care Center is located in Revere Beach. You can see the beach from some of the office is upstairs. All you need to do is take the Blue Line, which is about a 5 to 10 minute walk from MGH. It takes you right up to the health care center. Three Health Care Center is located in the same building as the T station. I was once asked when a residency interview how I would design the ideal health care center. Not only is it easily accessible by public transportation. It also has a wide variety of services for patients. We have interpreters embedded in house, including for Arabic, Spanish and prayer. We also have some specialty services that you could easily refer patients to, including TNT, Orthopedics, optometry, ophthalmology, podiatry. A bunch of different services available in house pages could also get their laps drawn downstairs. They can also get mammography and clean films done the other big perks being revere Dunkin Donuts downstairs. I know it's not great for patients, but sometimes you need your coffee fix. Um, there is a ice cream shop right next door, and, of course, it can't emphasize enough that the beach is literally across the street.
