I am a second year student in the M. S. G. D. A. Or human genetics and genomic data analytics program. I first heard about T. G. I. From my undergraduate institute we've got a big list apologist from health professions advising and K. G. I was one of those on the list. I looked at the website, I thought it was interesting and so I decided to apply to their genetics programs and I think I picked kg. I because I felt like it was some place where I would be focused on in terms of know what I wanted to do career wise and my interest academically and you know eventually go on to succeed both you know in my classes now and with actually building a career and I think that's something that's really important in graduate school is having people around you who want you to succeed and are willing to help you do that. I think there's something that all of us have in common and that's a strong sense of and belief in community be it, you know, my cohort or the admissions ambassadors group then part of or being involved clubs on campus or even just you know different faculty or people that we meet an industry talks information sessions or anything like that. There's this real sense of belonging I think and finding your place and uh being accepting and willing to learn about people's differences. You know this year alone I've seen so many different cultural events and health awareness stuff going on on campus and there's really a sense that people want you to feel welcome and give you a place where you can really feel comfortable to learn and thrive and, you know, focus on doing school well.
