It is required for the M. S. G. D. A. Program to do an internship experience between our 1st and 2nd years and so mine this past summer was at Scripps Research translational institute which is located in La hoya California. It was remote due to the pandemic but despite that I learned a lot and overall it was a really great experience in terms of how I actually got started. I attended an information session that was also virtual and it was co hosted by K. G. I. And uh the S. R. T. I. Internship program coordinator and she shared some stories from previous interns who were actually in the MsG T. Program and some other people who talked about their projects and I thought that was interesting. So I decided to apply in terms of the application process that included a first, we had to do a video somewhat similar to this one. We also had an application form as well as we had to indicate interest in all of the mentors that we would like to work with. Then I got an email a few weeks later, several weeks later actually From the mentors who were interested in talking to me about having me work as potential intern I talked to them and I selected so that's how that worked. Um it was a 10 week internship and I focused on doing data analysis using the r programming language for different fields. So I did a project in by statistics as well as in public health and genomics. So overall is a really great experience and it's something that I would highly recommend to any future msg. D.
