The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Oh, in this video, I'm gonna tell you guys a little bit about my college admissions experience and then my experience applying and getting in the Iowa state. So when I started applying for schools, I applied to nine or ten universities to begin with. Um, I would say it was the first one I applied, too. Um, but that being said, uh, I did kind of see Iowa State as a backup school. The other universities I applied to were mostly Big ten, um, or pretty large schools. They all had pretty prestigious engineering program. University of Minnesota, Wisconsin, all those kind of schools. I was a pretty strong student in high school, uh, four point O g p a low thirties in the score range. I did a lot of extracurriculars in high school, so I definitely had a pretty strong application going in. Um, so when I had to accept my admissions decision, um, and I chose Iowa State, it was mostly because of financial aid. Uh, I was state granted me a very generous scholarship. So I wasn't the happiest about coming here at first. Looking back on senior here, me and my thoughts um, I could not have been more wrong about my decision, something that really discouraged me. The fact that the acceptance rate was eighty seven percent and that the average score range was a twenty two two twenty eight, which was a little bit lower than a lot of other schools I applied to, Um, but again, I could not be more wrong. Uh, because I find that when I talk to people here when I talk to people as an engineering major last semester. Um, a lot of students did have the same strong academic record is me in high school. I've met some of the most intelligent, bright people I've ever met here. Iowa State, Um, people that can out math me out English me out literally. You're going to find academic challenge in your classes, Uh, in your classmates and your friends, Um, all that kind of good stuff. So with the eyes say, application, it only took me around thirty minutes to do. They have a couple short answer questions, no big essays, and then they just have you self report everything else. So what that means is, they're gonna have you type in your g p a and your score score. Make sure you're honest with that, because when you would accept your admissions decision, they will have you go back and send your official school reports and your official transcript. I found out within twenty four hours whether I had gotten into Iowa State. Um, and now I couldn't be happier with my decision. So definitely don't let people stereotypes or what you've heard about Iowa State, um, discourage you because it's definitely something you should find out for yourself. I was very wrong about my first opinions, and I could not be happier at any other university, so that's a little bit about my senior year and college admissions experience and then what it's like to apply to Iowa State.
