If I think about, you know, I never I always say, I never thought I'd move to Canada. I don't know that I consider myself risk taking. You know, I did Boy Scouts because my brother did Boy Scout. I just kept flying for year after year, so I don't know that I was a big risk taker, but maybe just kind of knew what I wanted and was willing to go for those students is with a particular incident, at which point we were like, Okay, enough. I was going six days a week and personal trainer, and there's a lot of people don't know, Uh, but it was nine months to a year into it, and I was just like, God, this is not what I want to be doing with my time. You know, I think that is just a small example. You know, for me, it wasn't a change and maybe circumstance or family adventure, but maybe more. Because I think one of the things that I admire a lot about you and which I think is quite unique to being I didn't see it is that you're not one of the people who have a classical form, All right? I mean, you pick the interactions like you said, And what do you think about that? It is actually quite connected to the previous question. No. No. Why? Because, yeah, Because that what you know to land regulations, can I do without yourself? Yeah, you can take in the back. You know, as a middle child, they've had a lot of patients for me and my antics. So it's funny how things change, how you know, maybe it's because my grandparents had passed away, or I'm not sure. People have come together, and I think that those relationships release strength. So she would tell stories about how, when I was very young, you know, five or six, my teachers would talk about how wonderful I was and how much they enjoyed. Like, What did you study? Did you enjoy it? You know, no undergrad. I came in thinking I would study math or chemistry. So by the end of my math studies, I was it was really a slog to motivate myself to go to the class and do the assignments, and, you know, but by the end, I just wanted it to be over. What about studying business? I mean, I know you came to NCR looking for engaging with other people who thought differently and came from different walks of life. I think I learned an important lesson about working in government and kind of bureaucracy that can go with that, because as it got closer to the summer, I hadn't heard about, you know, the outcomes of these background checks and only until mid June. So I had two cases of behavioral and a job interview, and so it takes all morning, and I remember getting on the bus to go back to the airport with the other candidates and thinking, you know, I don't know if I'll get a job offer or not, but I really enjoyed this and I thought was a great experience. As if you know me, I spent almost six months and sad and pursuing a business education. There's three of us went and had an amazing we can scan know each other, seeing music, great concerts And for the rest of the fall, Charlene and I started going to concerts together more and more, spending more time together outside of work. At the beginning of 2017, we started dating and, you know, flash forward a couple of years. You know, I'm I'd say very fortunate to have this experience for a couple of reasons. The second one is, you know, I get to have the best of both worlds. I also get to go home to someone who knows me outside of inside before and Seattle and, you know, able to think about life and look at watch movies and do things where I don't need to be constantly on or thinking about school, or who am I going to go to dinner with, or what am I going to do next weekend? So having a partner here has been, you know, a fundamental part of my experience, and there are times when I think oh, maybe I would go to this event to go on this trip if I were here by myself. Um, you know, maybe not as many as I would like, but it still makes the experiencing that much more impactful for me. I am a Fonte lifer and, you know, spending my entire year in France and I just remember how excited and happy I was for everyone to come back and to see people who I really got to know over the past four months. These are people who you know, I didn't know five months ago, and frankly, I may never see after after seven months, but it just speaks to the power of this year and this program and how much it can change you and that you have people who you connect so strongly within such a short amount of time. You know that Doesn't I think about often? When I was in French class the other day and I was the only white American male. They're only white male there, and that's just not an experience I normally have growing up where I'm from and you know, how does that how would my That's just a French class, but how would it be different in the US? It's only I think about, and I appreciate having the opportunities here, so it's not a specific moment, but I just remember how, coming back and even now, at the end of P three, when everyone from Singapore will come back and before that makes me really happy. I'm just looking forward to making the most out of, you know, the next two periods. The so many people in the world, even in your own country or city, you know, don't have the same opportunities that I have. It pushes me to take the risk to move to the city, to move to a new country, for business, school, to try and get a job that's really hard to get its you know, I want to feel like I didn't pass any opportunity by and look back and say, Yes, I did made the most of the chances I have following up from that. I really wanted it and you know, to come to that and I didn't get it, Um, and at the time I remember thinking, being really disappointed and thinking about the process and what I did and what I didn't do, and it bothered me that I had not been chosen for this thing that I thought I should be chosen for. You know what I've learned to do is think about why that happens and how I can change and learn from it. You know, come in and see at the It's a culmination of a lot of lessons from my underground. You know, I don't want to be falling behind in my classes and feeling like I didn't learn or didn't take advantage of the opportunities And the professors were giving, Uh and I've learned that lesson the hard way. It's it's, you know, there's always going to be things where I want something and I don't get or I miss an opportunity because of whatever reason But it's more important than to learn from that and move forward and grow. You know next time you'll be I'll be able to to do that. There's still things that surprised me and, you know, people who choose to, you know, travel or to study or to be very career oriented or to be very party oriented. As long as you are aware of yourself true to yourself, you know, making decisions and making friends that make you feel good, it will be okay and it will turn out as it's supposed to.
