I have a minor in fine arts and I predominately take photo classes because of it. With the fine arts minor, I can take pretty much any art class that I like this semester. I am taking a class in studio photography, and that's really because I've never been in a photo studio before. The studio photography class is a lot of teaching yourself how to work in the studio, which can be kind of scary at times you'd be surprised at how quickly you pick up on things. One really good thing about it is that you have so much creative freedom to do anything that you want in the studio and hear some photos that I took in the studio. Here's some of the final photos that I took in the studio the other day. I think Officer has a great fine arts program for me as a PR major. I don't think I would recommend Hofstra for someone pursuing art as a full time career.
