Hi. My name is Becky McGovern, and I'm a second year student at Harvard Business School. Originally, I grew up in Weymouth, Mass. My family is all on the South Shore or in Boston, and I went to school in Massachusetts as well. So I went to Williams College out in Western Mass. There I studied math and I was on the varsity lacrosse team. When I graduated from college, I moved back to Boston. When I was in consulting, I worked in the private equity practice and the consumer practice. After I think it was about three or four years there, I took an X turn ship to go do something different. That is when I left to go work at Toast, which is a restaurant tech company. Some of the products they sell are like point of sale, online ordering tool. Um, it's a B two B company, but the customers almost seems it's more like B two C in terms of sales, and the way to service them was different, and you have to have a lot more empathy, and I think you had to think more like a B two c business. So that was a great fit for me because I'm so interested in the consumer space and they were also moving into their first be to see, um, product offering. So when I started the my MBA search process, I think I was super busy. I had loved everything in the last minute, as I always do. I kind of decided to hone in on just the three schools that I I was most interested in at the time. Um, I wanted to do a good job on those three applications in round one, see where the chips fell and then, uh, kind of re evaluate in round two. My cousin was able to go toe get her degree from home, but I was the first one. Thio go live in a dorm somewhere and it was scary and it was hard and cum. So graduating from college was like, What the heck am I gonna do like I gotta I gotta get a good job. I plopped into consulting and was like, All right, we're good. I just realized I was pretty unhappy and I was like, What's next? I'm just always trying to solve these problems that I'm always trying. Thio take care of everybody around me and I'm kind of there and I'm paying off my school loans. Now what? And I had in that in that time when I was kind of having a little bit of a crisis of like, self, Um, I had, uh my aunt got really sick. My other aunt lost her home just like my personal life was exploded. I had this big revelation that, you know, I need to figure out what makes me happy and what's gonna what what's my what's my mission and what's my purpose? Because it's not this.
