The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I'm currently enrolled in the Masters of Accounting program at Fordham University's Graduate School of Business. I'm originally from Cranford, New Jersey, and I'm currently living there, taking virtual classes this semester as well. I completed my undergraduate degree at Fordham as well. I majored in public accounting, and I graduated just this past May may have 2020. Um, it was a virtual graduation, and then I went right on to complete my master's at Fordham. Because I was an undergraduate student, I was able to take some of my master's classes as an undergraduate student. Kind of get ahead on my classes that I have lost to take this year. So Fordham does kind of allow that flexibility if you're going from undergraduate Fordham to graduate. The graduate program and the Masters of Accounting Program or Masters of tax program is an accelerated program to get your 150 credits to become fully certified. C p A. So the program really is aimed at just completing that requirement for the c p A. So those are most of the students who are enrolled in in these masters of accounting or tax programs at Fordham. As I mentioned, I primarily chose this program because of how streamlined it was going from undergraduate Fordham to this Fordham master's program. It's only a year long program, so it's a very efficient way to get your 150 credits get your master's degree. Um, but outside of the efficiency and ease of it, I really chose it just because I love Fordham so much going undergrad graduate there, I knew that their master's program would be the best would be a perfect fit for me, located right in Manhattan, right at Lincoln Center, um, the Upper West Side, a beautiful location, and Fordham just its reputation around Manhattan and around the country around the world. Um, there has so many connections, and I knew I would be able to really take advantage of those connections throughout my master's program throughout this one year. Um, and they offer so many opportunities for networking with different companies, different professionals, um, but then also just post graduation as an alumni, I think there are endless opportunities there, and Fordham's name really well, we'll carry with you as you go on as far as the classes offered as part of the masters of Accounting or masters of taxation program. There are a few mandatory accounting or taxation classes required, UH, for each specific program. Outside of that, there's a lot of flexibility with the classes you're allowed to take and you'll work with your advisors. They really want to help you find the classes that you're interested in and that will really benefit you down the line. So I know they've expanded it to include a variety of information system classes you can take python. If you're interested in Social media or something like that, they're really open to kind of anything that you feel will help you out and will benefit your career. Um, I think another really interesting aspect of the programs and afford, um, specifically that I also saw an undergraduate and was able to take advantage of, but is their focus on sustainability and they have a lot of sustainability electives that I've been really interested in and able to take, um, so whether those are related to accounting or outside of accounting. I think that's something that really draws a lot of people in and that they're pushing in the graduate program for accounting, which I think is awesome because it's such an up and coming field. I think that's one thing that really sets a Fordham's graduate school apart from other schools. I think Fordham's classes also really provide you with and prepare you for real world experience, and I can no one specific example of a class that I took. I was able to participate in this as be tutorial that worked with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board on this big globalization project that they are currently in the process of going through. We were able to complete research for them on a variety of countries relating to their different standards, seeing how the standards relate across the globe. This was research that they're going to be put into use in this real project real world project. So I think that's one example of a class, and Fordham offers many like it, Um, that really provides you with meaningful, valuable experience. So I would say Fordham in general, um and specifically the masters of accounting are masters of taxation program is really for students who are eager to learn whether in the classroom or outside of it. You want to get involved outside network around the city, around the country again around the globe, gain these connections and really just take advantage of all the opportunities that Fordham has to offer, which is endless. I'll be coming out with some more videos on some more specific aspects of Fordham and its program, Um, but I hope you consider Fordham.
