Why I Choose Drexel
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So today I'm gonna be kind of talking about my college application process and what I did and what I went through to get to Drexel. I had to do a portfolio at some because I am a graphic design major. First, I got into obviously directly University, the University of Tennessee, Maryland Institute, College of Art and then California College Arts. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to Lincoln Hart School if I wanted to go to a regular university goto our tool within the university. So I decided that I wanted to go to a regular university. So that brought me down to two options, which is University of Tennessee and Drexel University. I visited directional like, three times before I ended up coming here in the fall. So I it was like overnight I like, woke up and I was like, All right, I'm going to Drexel. So and then that day I ended up submitting my like acceptance, whatever it is. They're like, Oh, my God, Wait, What? It was kind of funny, but anyways, so I trust Drexel for a different many different reasons. Yeah, structural is like $67,000 a year, which I don't want to talk about that. Well, the thing is, is it's a private university, so they give you a lot of money like grants and scholarships. So that brought my costs down a lot in the end, like the University of Tennessee wants a lot cheaper. I ended up going to Drexel for, like, other reasons. Another reason why I came to Drexel was the opportunity. So you automatically have one of the major cities on the East Coast as, like, years springboard to go other places. Since I am in a very city based major, I guess, or like technically, you can do it remotely. It is an art designed major, so there are gonna be more options for me within a city, which is why I am currently here. I can go many major cities by, like trained buzz and any sort of public transportation, which I find really nice. Because one day, actually, I did go up to New York City with my roommate and then another reason why interest Drexel was the co op program, which is something that everyone says, like, Why did you come to Drexel Coop? Because it adds to your resume when you're applying to jobs later on. Granted, with graphic design, it is a four year, one coop program, so I do only have that one opportunity to get a coop. I was looking at different jobs, kind of near where I lived before I ended up choosing which we wanted to go to my graphic design jobs. You need tohave a degree, and you need to have experience before you can even get like, an entry level drop. Which is ridiculous, because how the heck are you supposed to get experience without a degree? But then you can't get a job without experience ended degree. It makes no sense whatsoever, but with Drexel, you get the degree and the experience. My friends who to other schools haven't even taken their mid terms yet because we are in the quarter system. We are a year round school, which is like it kind of sucks. So that's the reason why it's set up like that. Then my last reason, well, I kind of already touched on this a little bit was the location. So since it is it, it's in West Philadelphia, which is like, You never see City. So we're very close to a U Penn, which is really nice because you pen has a lot of different accommodations that we are able to use. Also another great thing about being an art student in a big city is the fact that we get admission until almost every single art museum in the city of Philadelphia for free, which is lovely, because sometimes you're like my art history professor was like, Okay, you're gonna need to go to the PM which was the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I wanted things like $20 or something crazy like that, but I got it for free. Technically, it's like free because I'm still really paying for it because I'm paid to go here. If you are looking at colleges and you're looking at Drexel, let me know down blokes I really like hearing about what schools other people are going to. If you are going to a directional like, really let me know, because I like meeting new people and all right, so I think that's gonna be offered today. What school you go Thio and What's your major or what colleges you're looking at? If you are applying to schools because it really interested to see what other people are doing. I don't know why it was always something that was fascinated with in high school. I still want to know now, like, I'll talk to other hey, scores. Like, what schools are you looking at? Because I'm just interested.
