I am a current first year at Denison, and I'm here to talk to you a little bit about what you can expect from your first year and all the great ways Dennison helped you through your first year on the Hill. So the first program is called June Orientation or Juno. You get put into a group with other students, a peer mentor and a faculty mentor. There's also a tandem program for parents, and my mom came with me and she really loved that program. All the service is all you provided for me and, like, settled her worries a lot. You get to know the faculty mentor and get another pair a mentor, and you got to learn how much the faculty at Denison really care about you from the start. Also have a separate Causton are looking out for you. They leave, knowing what cost is you're gonna take it really Health Hold. Next thing that will happen for your first year experience. It's optional, but I had recommended AARP Rios. There are six Prio, so there's canoeing, outdoor service, art, mindfulness and paving. The way, um so these Rios are the week leading up to your August orientations, the week leading up to your first day, and they are smaller group of students, all normally with similar interests. I want him canoeing, and everyone was super different. That was really fun to, um, so it's smaller group of students to get to know them a lot better. He also once you get to always orientation, you get to your first day. You already know some faces you already know some people on campus. You have to move in a week early in kind of a boy. The craziness of moving day, which I highly recommend Even if you move in regular, the football team actually helps people carry their stuff up of the stairs in the sweaty Ohio August super fun after pre owes. If you decide to do that, there's obvious orientations orientation. You just kind of get all the information you'll need to know about Dennis in about what our campus stand for our traditions. Some of this the nitty gritty stuff about like, How do you know? How do you get the service? What does this acronym mean? It's a really good time. You also get paired with people from your floor to get to know the people that you're living around a lot better. It's really great when, after all its orientation, you're into your school year, you're into your first year of college. That support doesn't go away when he's program. Once these programs and the professors that you met along the way are still there for you, appears that you know along the way were still there for you. All of the upperclassmen really want you guys to succeed on. They've never I've never had an experience where an upper class and look down on me. They really see me as part of the dentist and community and want to support me and support all the first years in any way possible. About a month in I think there's the involvement there, which is overwhelming but super super fun. They set up every club on campus which there more than I could ever count. Set up a table on a quad and there's free food. They're singing all around, just like a great time on dhe. Students can walk around between tables and decide what clothes they're interested in. They can put their e mails down on email list to get more information about all these different clubs suddenly. Don't want to say that thes clubs like they want you to be leadership positions refreshment like you get opportunities to, like, really, really thrive to really, really, um, just go above and beyond. Just because your first year doesn't mean, um, that you're seeing is any left. You're really fully part of the dentist in community. Even more than any of that first year as a time where you get to know some of the most incredible people you'll ever meet and form relationships that will after light last a lifetime. As I'm sure you heard, sure, you've heard some people say, Uh, just get this in Curtis, eat friends, eat food with friends. I, I hope that you already stated you in the hills.
