The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I am currently a summer intern with Office of Admissions, So I've been helping out with virtual information sessions and doing interviews with prospective students. So I wanted to take this video and kind of answer a lot of the questions that are frequently asked. I think initially that was something that I was really worried about. So coming to Colgate was initially kind of a transition. I really think that with time, you kind of grow more acclimated within that kind of setting, and I think you actually really come to appreciate and love the town of Hamilton, and that kind of makes things a lot easier. It offers opportunities for students to kind of get off campus every Saturday. There is typically a shuttle that takes students to the mall and Syracuse, so that's a really great way to kind of get off campus for a day trip. I think it's kind of really hard to be bored on kids because there's so many events going on, whether it's a sporting event or programming that's put on by different clubs. Like I said, while the transition might initially be something that you have to get used to, I think as time goes by, you definitely realize how hard it is to be bored and that there is always something going on. What is the food like at cool tea? Colgate offers four different dining halls and your first two years you're on unlimited meal plan. Frank's dining hall is open 24 7, and it's kind of like a face style, so they have a little something for everyone and then The other three locations are a little bit more specialized. The Chobani Cafe is in the library, radio X movies and yogurt bowls, and the coupe does kind of more like lunch grab and go type things. So I've found that there are vegan options for me in all of the locations, which is overall, you know, it's college dining food, so I wouldn't say it's like outstanding, but I think it's definitely not bad either. Number is 13 while typically it's seen as a day of bad luck for Colgate students. We love Friday the 13th. Whenever that date falls, on a day when classes are in session and people are on campus, everyone kind of is decked out in their Colgate gear or wearing my room. So it's really a great way to, like, just show your school pride for Colgate and you see members of the community and faculty doing the same. So I think that's a really great tradition that I enjoy. I also love dance best every semester that happens in the chapel and all the dance groups on campus are coming together to perform and that such a well attended event you have students lining up in the cold an hour before dance best even starts. You really see everybody coming together support their friends were performing, and it really just shows appreciation of the arts that we have on campus. What kinds of resources are available to support and help students on campus? Colgate is really great at helping students and ensuring that they have everything they need to succeed and be well, the Shot Wellness Center is a great place on campus that really promotes wellness and health, both physical and mentally. There is great counseling center and mental health Resource is on campus. We have an LGBT I office the Lana Cultural Center is a great place to go, and, um, it fosters diversity and sense of community. There's just so many academic and career related resource is the writing and speaking center is a great place to get help with any assignments you might have a career Services is just such an amazing resource for students of all greed. What is Greek life like on college campus? The way I see Greek life on campus is that it's not divisive. You can choose to be involved with the Greek organization, and that's great. You can make it as much or as little of your time at Colgate as you wanted to be. If you're like me and you don't particularly want to affiliate with the Greek organization, that's totally fine, too. It doesn't determine or dictate, like your social status or your Colgate experience. So I think that's what's great about Colgate is if you want to get involved with Greek life, you can and you can kind of make it as moderates a little of your college experience as you wanted to. Question what is ever see, like at quality, but there definitely is some diversity on Colgate's campus. I think for me, that's probably the one thing about Cody that I would really want to change. I think already Colgate is taking steps to promote diversity and inclusion on campus. Even on campus, students are making their voices heard and creating these bases and communities where people can feel welcome having those tough conversations about Diversey, a Colgate, the administration president, Casey welcome and willing to listen to students voices and have those conversations. While it might kind of be locking in diversity, I think Colgate is really stepping up and taking the steps needed to promote increased ever see an inclusion on campus and the last question. What's a friend? She's Colgate from other small liberal arts schools, the sense of community that you feel a cold G and within the town of Hamilton, I think it's really unique because you're honest, small campus in a small town small number of students, so you have small class sizes, and it really allows you to get the most of your learning experience. You're forming these connections and relationships with world class professors in the sense of community you have with fellow students and with the faculty and stuff. The alumni network is so strong, and it's famously loyal, and I think this kind of differentiates Colgate from other schools as well. I really want to help coordinate students in any way they can, and this is seen through, like the programming they do with career services. Teoh Colgate students because of that strong sense of community and the pride Colgate students and alumni have for the school, So those are the two things I would say set Colgate. Those are a lot of the main questions I get asked by prospective students.
