So now I'm gonna talk a little bit about my exchange program here at NCCU. So, like I mentioned before, I am in a direct enrollment at NCCU, which is called a direct enrollment exchange program. So this is a partnership with you, and you go Direct enrollment is a form of study abroad where we have a student. I'm enrolled in classes alongside regular degrees seeking students at my host country. So that's just pretty much means I'm treated like a regular NCC university student. So this is different from a study abroad program where you're where you would be going with, like, all the students from your university and taking classes, like with all the same students from your universe in the US, but just in a different country. So whereas mine's not like that, I'm actually only one of two students from eight to be studying here and see you. Um, so I would say that, uh, I had a lot of fears coming here first because I was coming alone and I didn't know anyone here. I didn't know what was gonna be like, all I knew. What I was coming to Taipei to study and I was living in this place called I House, and I was hoping to meet other exchange students and other international students from all around the world would also be in the same position as me studying here in Taiwan. So because I am doing direct enrollment, I would definitely say that there are times where you have to be more proactive in terms of like making friends and just kind of taking care of yourself here because you are treated as a regular degree seeking student. There is not constantly like, I guess, like a group of people or organized activities for you with other people from your home university. So it's just like you're kind of starting as like a freshman all over again, which was something that I really wanted to do. Actually, I didn't want to be with a bunch of students from a U in a new country because I felt like I felt like I wouldn't really be able to absorb like, um, everything from Taiwan. I wouldn't be able to really, like, completely immerse myself in the culture and in the language and everything, like that. Um But I did have a lot of fears, of course, but my transition to living here in Taiwan was actually really, really smooth. I would say that there's a lot of factors that went into that, Um, one living in my house is definitely a lot easier than probably living like with a host family or in an apartment. I'm not even sure if we had a host family option. There are students who do live off campus in the apartment. Um, and I would say that I would probably feel a little bit more isolated if I did do that because most likely, I'd be living downtown, which is a little bit further from my campus here and see See you. So I love living in my house because I'm still looking on main campus, and also I haven't lived in a dorm and about a year, so it is really nice being able to live here because you're connected with so many other soon's her in the same position as you. I'm studying here in Taiwan on exchange, but from all over the world, I would say that a lot of the students living here in my house are European. Um, some of my closest friends are from Singapore and the U. S. And since Ireland here in Taiwan, on DSO, living in my house has definitely been a really great transition because you're able to just kind of organize trips and just grab food with different people who live in my house, which has been great addition, As a direct enrollment student, I have the option to take all the courses here offered and see you. So I had the option to take all the English courses offered here. My Chinese isn't good enough to take on an actual academic cloths in Chinese, just like I would add a you. When I came right before I came to Taiwan for my semester, I logged on to the NCC website and I selected my own courses through there like course selection process. Um, and I think that if I wasn't in direct enrollment, maybe there would be certain types of classes already set up for me with again people from my home university. You're in classes with bulls local time, any students and also other international students from all over.
