Sierra: Why I chose Adelphi!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
Hey, what's up, everyone? My name is Sierra Romano. I'm a communications major with a concentration in digital production, and I also minor enacting. I'm from a town called Commack New York, which is on Long Island. Super convenient because Adelphia is also located on Long Island. One thing that I really love about Adelphi is the location. It's about a 45 minutes to an hour drive. It is the perfect happy medium between my hometown and New York City. I am a senior emissions ambassador as well as a tour guide. I love being able to help perspective students in their admissions process and give back to the community that helped me choose Adelphi as my school. So a little fun fact about me is that I'm actually a first generation college student, meaning that I'm the first one in my family to go to college. So the whole process was very new to both me and my parents. Everything about finding a college, taking the S A T s a C T s. All that was new to us. Adelphi was super helpful and accommodating in answering all of our questions between everything from admissions to financial aid. Everyone at Adelphi was super helpful and accommodating to all the millions of questions that me and my parents had. We do have over 80 student clubs and organizations on campus. My favorite club that I'm a part of is called Arts and Power Adelphi. Our main mission is to spread the arts and positivity all throughout campus. We work very closely with the local N Y u Langone Hospital and were able to go there and visit the patients and residents and perform music for them and do a whole bunch of arts and crafts with them. Another thing that I really love about Adelphi is our small class sizes. So all of our classes average at around 20 students per class, which means the professor really have to know you as a person and a student. They'll know your name and your major, and they'll really be able to see where you're struggling in a class so they can help you out. As I did mention before, I am a commuter student, but I actually do not travel to campus every single day because I have a hybrid model of classes, which means that some of my classes are online. So I go to campus twice a week for both my in person class and to work in the admissions office. I hope you were able to learn a little bit more about me an adult, I and stay tuned for future videos where I will take you to some of my favorite spots on campus.
