It's Rebecca again with campus real, and today I'll be speaking about my experience with some of the clubs and organizations here at Adelphi. There are tons of different ways to get involved and find something that interests you here. To clarify some terminology and e board or executive board refers to the group of students who run a club or organization. The different officers work together to create a welcoming and fun environment for all of their members. Now let's talk about some of the Delphi's clubs and organizations. First organization I'm going to speak about is Caliber, which is Adelphi's largest community service organization. Caliber stands for cause to achieve leadership, intelligence, brotherhood, excellence and respect. In addition to our weekly meetings, we also hold community service events. Being involved with events such as this gives caliber members the opportunity to give back to the community hands on. During our meetings, we hold in services, which give our members the opportunity to participate in community service projects from home. Although in services are very simple, it can be very impactful, and they give our members an opportunity to participate from wherever they may be. Sometimes during our meetings, we hold brotherhood events. This is where the different members of caliber come together to just have fun, play some games and get to know each other better. Building the sense of community really makes caliber. Being a part of the end of my first year, I ran for treasurer caliber. This role monitors the funds raised for the club as well as what the money is spent on. I've had such an amazing time working with the fellow executive board officers, and I really improved my leadership skills, my communication skills, and overall it's just been a great time. If you have any questions about the club, you can email us at caliber and it's all fine dot e d u. I hope to see that now I'm going to talk about it. That's what the Environmental Action Coalition, or E. A. C s goal is to keep their members informed on what's going on in the world in relation to environmental justice, as well as encourage members to take action for environmental causes. This was actually the first club I joined here to identify, and even though I was nervous, the executive board as well as the other members were incredibly welcoming. Even though I don't know much about the scientific aspects of this topic, the executive board make sure to always explain any terms or concepts that students may not know by explaining these different concepts. It allows students who are majors minors, people like me who are involved with environmental science in an academic sense to join the club. This extends to all different clubs and organizations here to Delphi. Whether this is your first time hearing about a topic or you're an expert, any club or organization will be happy to have you join. So don't feel like you only have to join clubs that align with your specific major career goals if you're interested or want to learn more. Environmental Action Coalition at Delphi dot e. D U. Next I'm going to speak about Psychology Club. This club is an extremely valuable source of information about the psychology department here at Delphi, but we also hold events and meetings to create a community of students both within and outside of the psychology department. We also get a lot of psychology professors who come to the club just to see what's going on, meet different students, and it's a great way to form connections and get to know them outside of the classroom. Currently, I'm the secretary for the psychology club. My life is the program that Adelphi uses to relay information about different clubs and meetings and events to students throughout the Adelphi community. It's my job to write Why, where and when Psychology Club is meeting and make sure that our members know exactly where to go. Joining the executive board of an organization can seem daunting, but it's a great opportunity to improve your leadership skills, collaborate with other students and make a difference in how clubs are. If you have any questions or want more information, email us at Site Club at Adelphi dot e d u. I hope to see you soon. This organization collects and donates food to different members of the itself by community. I've been volunteering here since fall 2019, and it has been a great experience. Friday as I come here, fill some orders and then drop them off at the mail room where they can be picked up confidentially. There's a wide variety of different foods people can pick from, as well as toiletries. The work we do here is so simple, but it really makes a difference for people's lives. As you can see, a Delphi has so many different groups that allow students to meet new people, learn more about unique topics. Hope you all enjoy getting a taste of the different clubs and organizations here to Delphi.
