Meet Kailey: A senior Health and Physical Education Major at Adelphi

I am 21 years old and I'm a senior at Adelphi University. I am currently at home visiting my family in Greenland on Long Island, New York but throughout the school year, I live closer to Adelphi in a house with a few of my friends. I lived on campus my freshman year in Eddie Hall, and I've commuted ever since my sophomore year. So I understand both residing on campus, in the residence halls as well as commuting. I am a health and physical education major with a minor in Spanish. I am lucky enough that even with all this covid craziness that I have both classes and person, um, as well as virtually. That includes my student teaching requirement being fulfilled in person. It is off campus at a local school, but it is close to the university and its in person. Um, and it's amazing that I'm able to be in person. A couple of things that I'm involved on campus is obviously Delta admissions. I also in part of SAC, which is the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. We fulfill a lot of community service there throughout the school, do a lot of fundraisers, and I'm also on the woman's across team. So I chose Adelphi because it met my educational means as well as my athletic wants. Um, I get top programs with both health and physical education as well as my Spanish minor, um, alongside the lacrosse team. Um, I also chose it out by because it's close to home for me. I'm far enough that I can live on my own, um, and be away from my family for a little bit. Um, so a common question I get is what What type of students thrive at itself? I, um I don't believe there's a certain type of student. I believe everyone can vibe here in many different ways. Um, so a few fun facts about me is I am like I said on the lacrosse team, and we won the national championship my sophomore year, which was an incredible experience to say the least, um, and not so bad. But I also have gotten Dean's list every year here, so I am thriving definitely both academically as well as athletically, which is my plan all along. Um yeah, I am definitely excited to bring you guys around campus. I'm gonna give you guys a sneak peek in my daily life here, um, and give you guys some tips for when you come here.
