8 Bioengineering PhD Student - Daniel Lee - Adelphi Physics Alum
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
was I scared to major in physics, I was excited to pursue a major that was known to be challenging. I currently am a bioengineering PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. I studied different ways of imaging cells in the eye using a near infrared laser. After I graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, I intend to pursue a career in industry in the area of bioengineering. I believe one of the most useful skills I learned was the way physicists critically think when approaching problems as a PhD student, I believe that critical thinking is an essential skill set when being involved in novel research, especially because I intend to pursue a career in research and development in industry. This skill set I acquired while majoring in physics will really help me push my career to its fullest potential. Although pursuing a physics degree was challenging at times, I believe that the community at Adelphi University was very close knit in the physics department and it really helped me get through some challenging moments. I remember studying for one of my finals for a statistical mechanics class and I remember it was very difficult but I had a few friends who were in the library with me until very late in the night and we all studied together and it made this very gruesome process more enjoyable and fun because of the friends that I had in the physics department.
