Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students at Trine University and current recipients of an academic merit scholarship. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. All courses taken abroad must transfer back to Trine as part of the degree requirements.

Applicants must be high school juniors who participate in and complete either an American Legion Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program and are direct descendants, i.e. children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. or legally adopted children, of a U.S. veteran who served during a period of war.

Applicants must be candidates for the Ph.D. degree at an accredited graduate school in the U.S. and have completed coursework and defended their dissertation proposal sucessfully. Students must be focused in the area of women's philanthropy or gender differences in philanthropic behavior.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to attend school in the U.S. and enrolling in four-year college or university. Students must complete the application and provide school acceptance letter along with an essay describing their community service.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled undergraduates in a four-year college institution whose permanent residence is located in one of the following Indiana counties: Jefferson County, Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, Harison, Washington, Scott or Jefferson County.

Applicant must be a junior at Franklin College pursuing a degree in chemistry.

Applicants must be military veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces or immediate family members enrolling in a trade school, vocational program or an accredited institution earning credits toward an associate, baccalaureate or graduate degree. Students must write an essay pertaining to the given topic about prescription drugs.

Applicant must be enrolled at Franklin College. Preference given to a first-year natural sciences major who will attend medical school and demonstrates financial need.

Applicant must be a black or Hispanic Indiana resident with a minimum 2.0 GPA who agrees to teach in Indiana upon certification. Award may be used at Indiana schools only.
