Applicant must be a descendant of a veteran honorably discharged from the armed services of the United States. Selection preference is given to descendants from Gilmer County veterans who graduated from Gilmer County High School.

Applicant must demonstrate leadership abilities and be ready to enter the student internship program.

Applicant must be in good academic standing and be of exemplary character.

Applicant must have completed or is currently in the student internship program. Selection preference will be given to an applicant from Gilmer or Nicholas County.

Applicant must have been admitted to teacher education and is planning to do a student internship.

Applicant must need financial aid, have a strong character and be in good academic standing.

Applicant must be attending a college or university in West Virginia. Minimum 3.5 GPA and 25 ACT required. Preference to those attending West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or resident alien who is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an engineering, science, or technology program leading to a certificate or associate or bachelors degree at an eligible institution of higher education. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Applicant must be academically talented.
