Why Dayquan loves Whittier!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I'm from Long beach California and I'm a second year at Whittier and today I'm going to be telling you about my top three favorite things about Whittier. The Video scholars program is a really cool program that led to design your own major. So if there's a major that Whittier doesn't offers that students want or major that maybe doesn't really exist, um you can use courses at Whittier to build that major. So what I'm doing is social leader, which is a combination of fear and anthropology. Um And I think that's really cool that video offers that because at most schools that I was looking at when I was applying, I would have to choose between the theater and anthropology or have to double major, but with the, with your schools program, I can do them at the same time. Mhm. Another really cool thing about whether is all of the off campus experiences that they offer for students. Um Whittier is located next to Los Angeles County, so there's a lot of things going on there. I have friends who are doing internships in theater, film medicine, in the Los Angeles area. Um I applied to it and they're giving me funny to just funded research project. Um There are like dozens of different fellowships that were offers and like highly recommend that whatever college you go to, that you look into fellowships. I'm doing the melon maze undergraduate fellowship to study um inclusion in the theater, and so the California theater specifically, and then also scholarships, um different work study opportunities on campus. Lots of different things get involved outside of academics with. The third thing I really love about Whittier is the supportive community that you find, whether it's through friends, co workers, staff, faculty professors especially um take advantage of that that support, um most professors have open office hours that students can go to and really get any extra help they need, or even like into like, other opportunities that they could offer. Also very easy to make friends that were here since we are such as small campus, it doesn't take that much time to get to know everybody. Um, there's also a lot of different ways for you to like meet up with people rather at different events, um, clubs and societies. I know I'm in black sitting in agency association, a film club as well. It's a lot of different options, and if there's any of those things don't kill to, you can always start your own club, which is very easy as well. It's a lot of different ways for you to like meeting people, make sense that we're here overall. I'm just very thankful to be a part of the, with your community. It's so diverse and inclusive and supportive of all students, regardless of their background. Uh, even though I wasn't on campus for the past year, I still felt that support from both my peers and my professors as well as faculty members, and I was excited to get back on campus as soon as possible.
